Here's how to explain the recent solar eclipse to a 1st grader:

In the sky the moon and the sun look similar in size, but that's because the moon is much closer to us. The moon is about 400X closer to us than the sun, so it's hard to tell that the sun is actually 400X times bigger than the moon.

Our moon is our planet's natural satellite. Our planet and our moon slowly move around the sun together, so when the moon, our planet, and the sun align and our moon sit directly between the sun and our planet, a solar eclipse happens.

The 2045 will be the next time the US will witness the next coast- to-coast eclipse. .

Rock and I grew up space kids. We love Star Trek, Bill Nye the Science Guy and learning about the cosmos from astrophysicists like Neil deGrasse Tyson.

We created Rocko Rocket out of our own excitement and love of space science and STEM topics to inspire children and kids at heart to stay curious and dream big. 🚀

So for Rocko Rocket to have been among the featured community partners with the Orlando Science Center on Saturday, August 1st, meant the world to us.

Seeing people excited about our presentation felt like a full circle experience. Little me who was once on the other side of this kind of table dreaming about space, is very very excited to see what's next.🤩
