Join us for our next edition of SOA in the Park tonight April 8, at 7:30 p.m! We’ll be hosting a DESIGN MOVIE NIGHT: The Human Scale by Jan Gehl (1h32m) 🍿🎥
50 % of the world’s population lives in urban areas. By 2050 this will increase to 80%. Life in a mega city is both enchanting and problematic. Today we face peak oil, climate change, loneliness and severe health issues due to our way of life. But why? The Danish architect and professor Jan Gehl has studied human behavior in cities through 40 years. He has documented how modern cities repel human interaction, and argues that we can build cities in a way, which takes human needs for inclusion and intimacy into account.

Please join us in congratulating Assistant Professor Linda Chamorro and FIU alumna Olivia Bussey, Landscape Designer at Curtis + Rogers Design Studio. They were selected as winners of the 2021-2022 Landscape Architecture Foundation Fellowship for Innovation and Leadership.
The LAF Fellowship for Innovation and Leadership was established to foster transformational leadership capacity and support innovation to advance the field of landscape architecture. It has become a barometer for critical discussion in the discipline and an indicator of what’s ahead.
Professor Chamorro's proposal, LLAMA Vision, is a call to connect designers and collaborators to amplify their voices across the Americas. Alumna Olivia Bussey’s, propsoal titled "Cyclical Arrest: Breaking the Cycle of Recidivism,” looks at the U.S. prison system as a revolving door of criminal action and reaction, and the potential of landscape architecture’s role in breaking the vicious cycle.
Congratulations to both! 👏 💚
