KC VC SoBe

KC VC SoBe I am offering private instruction in the violoncello, on South Beach, where cello playing is sorely I can teach any age student.

My teaching style is deeply rooted in traditional European tradition, as this is how I was taught. Later, when I became a teacher, I was deeply immersed in Suzuki methodology. Thus, my own methodology is an amalgamation – not a blending – of both traditions. I also have studien ancient music extensively, and am an accomplished viola da gamba player. The basis of my instruction is awareness of disc

ipline, and self-awareness through self-discipline. With self-discipline as a tool, a student can teach him/herself. The Suzuki principles I adhere to are (1) memorization and (2) frequent performance. The European traditions I insist on are scales, sixths, thirds, and octaves, followed by Bach, each day. I require students use a metronome and a mirror.

John Wesley Hardin was an outlaw. I don't wonder why Bob Dylan made the album John Wesley Harding. I do wonder why he misspelled Hardin - can't be copywright on cowboy outlaw names. But then I wonder how John Wesley Harding and the Monks of Doom didn't get sued by Bob Dylan. Of course it's entirely possibly that this guy, who goes by the name of John Wesley Harding, has hippie parents (not outlaw parents) who named him John Wesley Harding, as a tribute to they fake outlaw, Bob Dylan, not the real outlaw

notes on the power of the cello:

It stirred my ancient sorrow like drunk Li Po falling for the shadow of the moon.
It aroused my strength like thunder hooves chasing after undying dreams.
It loosened my tension like a kite without a string flying up into the blue.
It provoked my tears like the sky craving the oceans' turbulent waves.
It bore my grief like setting a votive lantern afloat on the evening tide.
It tended my wounds like an old friend admire to hold hands.
It purified my dirt like a lotus blooming in a muddy pond.
