It is with an aching heart that I announce the death of Joaquin Rodriguez, past president of the Institute of Maya Studies and, until now, active member of its Board of Directors. Jack was a structural engineer, and as such, lectured often on the construction methods of the ancient Maya. Personally, many of us at IMS, considered him a close friend, and his absence will be felt at all levels. We send our heartfelt condolences to his three children, Joaquin, Elena and David, and his grandchildren. And, in particular, to his wife of many decades, Eli. Bye,mi queridísimo amigo.
