First Linguistics Learning Circle of Fall 2022!

Chintan did such a good job talking at our final Linguistics Learning Circle. Thank you everyone who attended!

The GLA is hosting our 4th and final event for the semester! It'll be on Thursday, April 14th at 2 PM in CASE 145. Our guest speaker Chintan Sonawane will be talking about Multilingualism and Its Advantages. There will be food!

On Tuesday, September 24th, the Linguistics department's very own Dr. Phillip Carter will be hosting the inaugural event of the Center for Humanities in an Urban Environment, a screening of the documentary film, “Talking Black in America."

Come to the GC Pit at 5:00 for an opening reception, where you can speak directly with linguists Walt Wolfram and Renee Blake. The screening will start at 6:00 PM in GC 140. The event is free and open to the public, so we hope to see you there!

Barbara Gordon Memorial Lecture Series: Dr. Lisa Green This year, the FIU English Department hosted its annual Barbara Gordon Memorial Lecture Series, bringing in students, faculty, and staff for a keynote address on current research in Linguistics.

The night was a great success! Thank you to everyone who came out, and a special congratulations to Kim and Gabe for winning the Truby award!

The 2019 Barbara Gordon Memorial Lecture Series is underway! We're very happy to have Dr. Green with us this year, and look forward to many more years of fellowship and learning!
