Last month FIUSQ had the opportunity to do some outreach to perform for the students and answer questions about FIU! This was so much fun and a great way to get into the classroom of a recent FIU music alum!!

This year we have one graduating senior!! Mario finished his lessons this fall but continued his internship this spring and was able to successfully graduate this semester. Mario has been an important asset to the FIU saxophone studio and he will be missed! Congratulations Mario, you did it!!

What an exciting year this has been for the FIU Saxophone Studio!! Juries are officially done! Congratulations to juniors Juan and Wilson on their recitals this semester and to sophomore Melanie for passing her promotional jury! There’s been lots of growth this year and while we are all excited for summer, we are greatly looking forward to what is next!!

A week ago on 04/19 the FIU Sax Quartet and FIU Saxophone Ensemble brought the house down!! This concert was incredibly special and featured a 20 member saxophone ensemble on the music of Sousa, Husa, Bach, and Saint Saen’s! A huge congratulations to land thank you to our guest organist for joining us and to each student on stage!! This was one for the books!!

Tomorrow night we are excited to present THE ORGAN featuring our guest organist Dr. Seth Carlson! This program features a double bill of the FIU Sax Quartet performing works by Desenclos, Torke, and Yasuhide followed by the FIU Sax Ensemble performing works by Sousa, Husa, Bach, and Saint-Saëns! Come enjoy this FREE performance!!
