Knowing pressure points isn’t enough. Structure and angles magnify their effect.
A finger joint lock, translated from CaneFlow®️ to empty hand. Done straight, it’s effective. Uncomfortable, but tolerable.

Using the same force, but adding the the "question mark" principle from a common CaneFlow® handling sequence: the right pressure point, accessed at the right triangulation angle, in the right direction.

He drops to his knees.

Same lock. Same force. Different angle.

That's the Cane Kyusho™ difference.

The angles and movements that unlock these points are built into our ACSD®️ cane handling, forms, and flows. Every movement has a purpose, and every movement has a reveal. The deeper you go in the art, the deeper the reveal.

In the meridian system, LI 10 sits on the Large Intestine channel, where it's used clinically to regulate circulation, the flow of qi, and digestion. In cane self-protection, it does something else: with controlled pressure, the limb is trapped, pain disrupts the attacker's mechanics, and the head comes forward, setting up a follow-up.

Coach Ron Doyle, a very good sport, with added motivation 🥸 tries to pull free. He can't.

Here's why arm points come first: for almost any attack to work, the arms have to reach you first. The grab, the push, the punch. Your attacker hands you the target.

No speed. No strength. No big swing. Just the right place, with control.

This is Cane Kyusho™.

Position beats technique. Intentional targeting is what turns good position into results.

Caner Tip Tuesday: Everyone watches the cane strike. It’s the obvious part of the response.

But the quiet hand is the shut down mechanism preventing the opponent’s follow up.

When someone grabs your lapel, they've given you their arm. Grip that wrist casually and you have a hold. Grip it on the right points and you have something better: the grab is pinned to you, so that hand can't come back as a strike, and their grip starts weakening from the inside. Now control or disengagement is your choice, not theirs.

Same wrist. Same grip. Different result, because where and how you press matters.

This is Cane Kyusho™: pressure point work built into ACSD®️ from day

Caner Tip Tuesday-
Straight from ACSD® Form 3, application with the cane, then empty hand translation targeting the points. Same structure. Same angles. Plus the understanding of how the strike sequence gives you the autonomics and opens up the points for you.

Nothing in ACSD® is random. Every movement is connected. Every action causes an effect, and every effect sets up the next action. The forms are the alphabet, map, and tell the story.

That's not technique collecting. That's understanding.

Don't hunt for targets. Create them.

Move Better. Protect Better. Live Better.

The same movement.
Two completely different purposes.

Done slowly and somatically, the opening movements of ACSD®️ Form 5 grounds you. The breath drops. The weight settles. The nerve system resets, unloading tension you didn't know you were carrying.

Now someone wraps you in a bear hug from behind.

The same movement changes everything.

Not through strength. Not through struggle. Through position.

When you're grounded, his grip has nothing to lift. When you shift your structure, his advantage becomes your opening. With a cane or with empty hands, the principle is the same.

Position beats technique.

This is the heart of CaneFlow®. Every movement you train for health carries a self-protection application inside it, and every self-protection movement makes you healthier to practice. You don't have to choose between feeling better and being safer.

You train them as one.

Move Better. Protect Better. Live Better.
