UEFA Nations League: four matchdays down. Two to go. ⚽️

After four rounds, the 2026/27 Nations League is beginning to take shape, but there is still plenty to play for.

Three teams have been perfect so far:

🇪🇸 Spain — 12 points from 12
🇵🇹 Portugal — 12 points from 12
🇨🇭 Switzerland — 12 points from 12

England have also made a statement. 🏴 They sit on 9 points with 14 goals scored and a +11 goal difference, the best goal difference in League A.

🇫🇷 France lead a competitive Group A1 with 10 points, while 🇳🇱 Netherlands and 🇬🇷 Greece are locked together on 8 points in A2.

Further down the pyramid, there are some interesting stories developing too. 🇸🇪 Sweden lead B4 unbeaten, 🇲🇪 Montenegro and 🇸🇰 Slovakia both have 10 points in League C, while 🇦🇱 Albania sit top of C1.

And this is exactly why the Nations League format can become fascinating late in the group stage. It isn’t only about who finishes first. Promotion, relegation, qualification and the UEFA head-to-head tiebreakers mean that individual matches can completely reshape a group.

Two matchdays remain for Leagues A, B and C.

Which team has impressed you the most so far?

And which country has been the biggest disappointment?

SHOULD UEFA HAVE MADE AN EXCEPTION FOR RONALDO’S NO. 7?

Rafael Leão wearing Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic No. 7 for Portugal immediately got people talking.

But this wasn’t necessarily a changing of the guard.

Under UEFA Nations League rules, players in the matchday squad must be assigned numbers between 1 and 23. With a 23-player squad and Ronaldo absent, the No. 7 could not simply remain vacant.

So Rafael Leão moved from 17 to 7, while Fábio Silva took 17.

It was an administrative consequence of the rules, not necessarily Portugal handing Ronaldo’s number to his successor.

But here is the interesting question:

Should UEFA have made an exception?

Ronaldo has worn No. 7 for Portugal for more than two decades. The number has become inseparable from his identity, his country and one of the most remarkable international careers in football history.

Rules are rules. But sport is also about history, symbols and emotion.

Should Portugal have been allowed to leave No. 7 vacant until Ronaldo returns? Or is a shirt number simply a shirt number?

Here’s the revised caption with that historical context worked in naturally:

9 GOALS. FOUR TIMES. ⚽🔥

The biggest winning margin in Premier League history is 9–0, and it has happened four times:

Manchester United vs. Ipswich Town, 1995
Leicester City vs. Southampton, 2019
Manchester United vs. Southampton, 2021
Liverpool vs. Bournemouth, 2022

For context on how rare double figures are: the last time a team scored 10 goals in an English top-flight match was before the Premier League even existed. Tottenham beat Ipswich Town 10–4 on March 4, 1962.

Since the Premier League began in 1992, nobody has reached 10.

If you play soccer, what’s the highest score you’ve ever been part of or witnessed?

And do you think we’ll ever see 10 goals from one team in a Premier League match? ⚽

⚽ More than 1,000 matches. Hundreds of wins. Generations of history.

Brazil leads our all-time ranking with 676 wins in 1,070 international matches, an extraordinary 63.2% win rate.

England has 629 wins in 1,088 matches, while Germany has recorded 602 victories in 1,041. Argentina has accumulated 628 wins across an incredible 1,124 matches.

Together, these 15 nations have played 14,839 international matches and won 7,758 of them.

Perhaps the most remarkable number is Brazil’s: winning nearly two out of every three matches over more than a thousand games.

That isn’t a great generation. It’s sustained excellence across generations. 🌎⚽

This list is going to make some people angry.

And that’s exactly why we published it.

Ranking the greatest athletes of all time across different sports, eras and competitive environments is almost impossible without a clear methodology. So instead of arguing from memory or personal bias, we built a model, defined the criteria and let the results fall where they did.

Some names will feel too high.
Some will feel too low.
A few might shock you.

The Top 10 is only the beginning.

We ranked 100+ athletes and published the full methodology on SportsEdTV.com so you can see how the list was built, challenge the assumptions and decide what you would change.

Who is the biggest surprise in this Top 10?

Do you think soccer should be higher?

We ranked 130 major Olympic and professional sports disciplines using 21 factors across physical, technical, psychological, injury and career demands.

Soccer finished #10.

The goal was not to declare a universal truth, but to define “toughness,” score every discipline against the same framework, and stress-test the result.

Agree or disagree with #10?
