Join us in congratulating Pedro Sena (Pedro Sena), an FIU MFA alumni, on the presentation of his first solo exhibition at MIFA (MIAMI INTERNATIONAL FINE ARTS). “The Vernacular Sublime,” curated by Tayina Deraville, brings together paintings rooted in the immigrant experience, the negotiation between past and present, memory and reinvention, the familiar and the unknown. Human figures and architectural forms merge into hybrid spaces that exist somewhere between what is remembered and what is imagined.

The exhibition opened August 6 and is on view through August 25 in Room E at MIFA. Congratulations, Pedro!

Congratulations to Carrington Ware (Carrriii), a graduate of the FIU Art + Art History MFA program, on her new Art on The Plaza commission, Home Spun, at MOCA North Miami (Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami)!

Presented as a series of autobiographical textile flags, Home Spun draws from Ware’s memories of growing up in Georgia. Through these intimate recollections, Ware explores how family traditions, community care, and collective effort shape a joyful upbringing. The installation invites us to pause and reconnect with the people, places, and experiences that first made us feel at home.

Home Spun is on view now through October 11th.
