9 AI products launched in just 2 months.

We just wrapped Demo Day for Cohort 9 of our AI Product Management Bootcamp, and it was exciting to see what these teams were able to build in such a short time.

The products covered everything from construction and healthcare to education, accessibility, parenting, manufacturing, and advertising.

A few highlights:

🥇 EyeFriend — AI shopping assistant for visually impaired users
🥈 Locus AI — AI-powered organizational memory
🥉 Attuned AI — AI parenting and communication companion

The cohort also built products for construction document review, caregiver support, children’s reading, college admissions, manufacturability analysis, and video ad evaluation.

But what impressed me most wasn’t just the ideas.

It was the product management process behind them.

Each product manager had to:

→ Talk to real customers
→ Validate whether AI was actually the right solution
→ Work with engineers, designers, and data scientists
→ Make product decisions and tradeoffs
→ Iterate based on real feedback
→ Take an idea all the way toward launch

In total, the cohort brought together 31 Product Managers, 102 engineers, designers and data scientists, plus 10 AI mentors.

That kind of hands-on product management experience is difficult to get from watching courses or tutorials alone.

If you want to become an AI Product Manager and build a real AI product with a cross-functional team, comment “AI PM” or DM me and I’ll send you the details.

5 AI tools every Product Manager should know right now:

1. ChatGPT — PRDs & product thinking

Don’t just ask it to “write a PRD.”

Give it context, features, constraints, and acceptance criteria. Better inputs usually lead to much better outputs.

2. Claude Code — rapid prototyping

Turn a PRD into something you can actually test much faster.

The goal isn’t to replace production engineering. It’s to validate ideas before spending weeks building them.

3. Eraser — system design

Useful for creating architecture diagrams and thinking through how the pieces of a product fit together.

4. Google AI Studio

A fast way to experiment with and build AI applications, especially if you’re already working in the Google ecosystem.

5. Manus AI — go-to-market

Building the product is only half the job.

You can also use AI to research competitors, think through positioning, and improve your GTM strategy.

The bigger lesson?

Learning AI isn’t about memorizing every new tool that launches.

It’s knowing where AI can improve your product process—and where human judgment still matters.

A year ago, Efehan joined my AI PM Bootcamp because he wanted to land an AI PM job.

Then he surprised me.

“Nancy, I came here to get a job. Now I started my own company.” 😂

Fast forward a year, and he had:

→ Built an AI startup from scratch
→ Grown the team from 0 to 15 people
→ Built a working product in about 2 months
→ Landed a million-dollar contract with a $20B enterprise company

So I invited him onto the Product Insider Podcast to talk about what happened behind the scenes.

Not the polished founder story.

The messy part.

How do you get your first enterprise customer when nobody knows who you are?

How do you build an AI product quickly without relying on vibe coding alone?

How do you convince users to actually adopt AI?

And how do you go from one person with an idea to leading a 15-person team?

That’s the kind of AI experience you don’t get from watching tutorials.

If you want to hear Efehan’s full story—or explore what it takes to build real AI product experience yourself—comment “AI” or DM me and I’ll send you the details.

I used to think interview prep ended once you got the offer.

Then I sat in a real roadmap prioritization meeting and froze.

The frameworks I had practiced for interviews suddenly didn’t feel automatic.

That’s when I realized there’s a big difference between memorizing a framework and actually thinking like a Product Manager.

Real PM instincts take repetition.

You build them by consistently:

→ Asking better questions
→ Challenging assumptions
→ Thinking through tradeoffs
→ Making decisions without perfect information

Eventually, those habits stop feeling like interview techniques and start becoming how you naturally approach product problems.

That’s what Practicely is meant to help with.

Not just preparing for one interview, but giving you a place to keep practicing until the thinking becomes second nature.

If you want to try Practicely for free, comment “PRACTICELY" or DM me and I’ll send you access.

Can’t land PM interviews despite having years of experience?

Your experience may not be the problem.

Your resume might be.

I see senior PMs make the same 3 mistakes:

1. They try to include everything

A 3–4 page resume may feel impressive, but older or irrelevant experience can distract from the role you actually want.

For most senior PMs, 1 page is ideal. 2 pages at most.

2. They confuse responsibilities with achievements

Achievements show the impact you created.

Responsibilities show recruiters that you’ve done the work the role requires.

A strong resume needs both.

3. They bury their strongest keywords

If you’re targeting an AI PM role, your AI experience should be obvious within seconds.

You may also have years of cloud, IoT, or other experience—but if it isn’t relevant to the job, it doesn’t need half the resume.

More experience doesn’t automatically make a stronger resume.

Sometimes it just creates more noise.

Everyone keeps asking:

“Will AI replace my job?”

I think there’s a more useful question:

“How can I become more valuable because of AI?”

When I look at where things are heading, I don’t only see jobs disappearing.

I see new roles and new ways of working being created:

→ AI Product Managers
→ AI founders
→ AI consultants
→ Smaller teams building businesses that once required far more people

And the people who benefit most won’t necessarily be the ones who know every technical detail.

They’ll be the ones who combine AI with skills like:

• Leadership
• Human judgment
• Customer trust
• High-stakes decision-making

That’s why I don’t think everyone needs to quit their job and chase an AI company.

Sometimes the better move is learning how to bring AI into the career and industry you already understand.

Your existing experience can become much more valuable when you add the right AI skills to it.

If you want my AI PM syllabus and a closer look at what it takes to build hands-on AI product experience, comment “AI PM” or DM me and I’ll send it.

The APM recruiting window is open.

If you’re planning to apply this year, now is the time to start paying attention.

Companies like TikTok, Oracle, IXL Learning, Databricks and others have already opened APM opportunities. Google, Meta and Apple also recruit for early-career product roles.

The tricky part is that APM hiring tends to be seasonal.

Miss the recruiting window, and you may be waiting months—or even another year—for the next cycle.

But applying early is only part of it.

Your resume also needs to make it obvious that you’re product-driven.

Recruiters should be able to quickly see evidence of things like:

→ Understanding customer problems
→ Working across teams
→ Making product decisions
→ Using data to drive outcomes
→ Taking ideas from problem to solution

That’s why I created a PM resume template that’s already been used by 17,000+ product managers.

If you’re applying for APM roles this season and want the template, comment “APM” or DM me and I’ll send it.

The Build with Gemini x Google Cloud AI Hackathon caught my attention for one reason:

It pushes you to build something real.

Not just another demo.

You’re expected to create an AI product, work with a team, find real users, and ideally prove there’s a business behind it.

That’s the kind of experience that can actually strengthen an AI PM portfolio.

And if the product gains traction?

You may end up building a startup instead of just adding another project to your resume.

The competition gives teams 90 days to build with the Gemini API, with more than $2 million in prizes available.

This is also why I encourage AI PM students to join hackathons like this.

If you already know how to work with engineers, validate an idea with users, and take a product from concept to launch, you’re starting with a real advantage.

Whether you want to land an AI PM role, strengthen your portfolio, or test a startup idea, this is worth exploring.

Using ChatGPT is useful.

But for Product Managers, the bigger question is:

Can you use AI across the entire product lifecycle?

That can mean using AI to:

→ Turn messy ideas into structured requirements
→ Move from a PRD to a working prototype faster
→ Think through architecture with engineering
→ Build and launch with fewer resources
→ Research competitors, GTM, and user acquisition

That’s a much bigger skill set than simply knowing how to write prompts.

I put together 5 AI tools I think PMs should know right now, along with where each one fits best in the product lifecycle.

If you want the full tool stack plus the prompts I use for PRDs and GTM strategy, comment “AI” or DM me and I’ll send the guide.

If your goal is to build real AI Product Management experience, hackathons are one of the fastest ways to do it.

Here are 3 I’d recommend:

1. CockroachDB + AWS Hackathon

This is my top pick because it goes beyond building another chatbot.

You’ll get exposure to things like agentic AI workflows, RAG, long-term memory, MLOps, cloud deployment, and MCP.

More importantly, it pushes you beyond the prototype stage and into thinking about how an AI product could actually scale.

2. AI Builder Hackathon

What I like about this one is the focus on solving a real problem for real users.

That matters because a good AI PM isn’t just trying to build something technically impressive.

You need to understand whether anyone actually wants or needs it.

3. Prometh July AI Hackathon

This one runs for just 7 days, which means you have to make decisions quickly, work with a team, and actually ship.

That kind of pressure can teach you a lot more than another month of watching tutorials.

The biggest mistake I see is people spending all their time learning AI without ever building anything.

Hackathons give you a reason to stop studying and start doing.

Comment “AI” or DM me and I’ll send you the registration links for all three.
