Inspired by the global phenomenon of Bad Bunny, the Jornal da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) published a feature on the political history of reggaeton that includes the analysis of our professor Sheilla Rodríguez Madera. Her contribution explains how, long before Bad Bunny’s massive success, reggaeton emerged in Puerto Rico as a contested cultural movement, facing censorship and stigmatization before becoming a symbol of Latin American identity.
