👨‍👩‍👧 Raising Children: A Sacred Trust
Children are among the greatest blessings of life. The Qur’an says:
ٱلْمَالُ وَٱلْبَنُونَ زِينَةُ ٱلْحَيَاةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا
الكهف 46
But they are also a huge responsibility. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock." (Bukhari, Muslim)
🌸 True parenting is not just providing food and clothes—it is instilling manners, faith, and values. The Prophet ﷺ said: "No father gives his child a better gift than good manners." (Tirmidhi, Ahmad)
⚠️ Among the mistakes is neglecting daughters while favoring sons. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever raises three daughters, disciplines them, and treats them kindly will have Paradise." (Abu Dawud)
📖 Parenting is the mission of prophets. Allah says:
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي ٱلْأُمِّيِّينَ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَابَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ
الجمعة 2
🌱 Children’s hearts are pure and impressionable. If guided to goodness, they grow upright. If neglected, they may fall into corruption. Ibn al-Qayyim said: “The child’s heart is like an empty vessel, it will take whatever you fill it with.”
🔑 Keys to successful parenting:
Be a role model before you preach.

Teach them prayer, Qur’an, and good character.

Choose righteous company for them and protect them from harmful influences.

Balance love with discipline, kindness with firmness.

Pray constantly for their guidance and righteousness.

The Qur’an reminds us:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْحِجَارَةُ
التحريم 6
🤲 The prophets themselves prayed for righteous children:
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ
الصافات 100
رَبِّ ٱجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ ٱلصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
إبراهيم 40
🌹 A righteous child is a source of joy in life and intercession after death. The Prophet ﷺ said: "When a person dies, his deeds end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him." (Muslim)
Parenting is not just raising children—it is raising future believers, leaders, and protectors of the Ummah.

How the Companions Showed True Respect to the Prophet ﷺ
ʿUrwah ibn Masʿūd once told the people of Makkah:
“I have seen kings — Caesar, Chosroes, and the Negus — but I have never seen a man honored by his companions like Muhammad ﷺ. By Allah, whenever he spat, it fell in the hand of one of them who would rub it on his face and skin. When he ordered them, they rushed to obey. When he made wuḍū’, they almost fought over the leftover water. When he spoke, they lowered their voices, and they never looked at him directly out of respect.”
💡 True adab (manners) with the Prophet ﷺ is not in mere slogans or poetry, but in obedience, love, and following his Sunnah in both ease and hardship.
Allah says:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
سورة الحجرات ١

Honoring your parents is not just good manners — it is a lifelong act of worship and one of the greatest debts every child carries.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
«رِضَا الرَّبِّ فِي رِضَا الْوَالِدِ، وَسَخَطُ الرَّبِّ فِي سَخَطِ الْوَالِدِ» (الترمذي)
✨ True birr (kindness to parents) is shown in the smallest details:
Gentle words instead of harshness

Lowering your voice and softening your tone

Serving them before yourself

Anticipating their needs without being asked

🌿 Remember: kindness to parents is a continuous worship. If they are alive — serve them with love. If they have passed away — honor them with du‘ā’, charity, and keeping ties with their friends and relatives.

🌙 Your Parents: The Sun and the Moon
A father is like a mountain — firm against the winds of life, a strong hand that wipes away your fears, and a heart that shelters you with patience and strength. The Prophet ﷺ said:
«الوَالِدُ أَوْسَطُ أَبْوَابِ الجَنَّةِ، فَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَضِعْ ذَلِكَ البَابَ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَاحْفَظْهُ» (الترمذي)
And a mother is like the moon in the darkest nights — soothing your fears, calming your pain, and guiding you with her unconditional love. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Stay close to her feet, for there lies Paradise.”
💡 Parents are not just caregivers; they are a trust, a mercy, and the straightest path to Jannah. Cherish them while you can, honor them with your presence, and never let distraction replace devotion.

❌ Common Mistake: Thinking that only children can commit ʿuqūq (disobedience and harm) toward parents.
✅ Reality: Some parents also wrong their children — not only with loud voices, but through subtle actions that break the spirit and weaken character.
👎 Examples of parental ʿuqūq:
1️⃣ Constant belittling — “You’re a failure,” “You’ll never be anything.”
2️⃣ Harmful comparisons — “Look at your cousin, why can’t you be like him?”
3️⃣ Emotional neglect — a child seeks pride in your eyes but finds silence.
4️⃣ Forcing personal dreams — ignoring a child’s talents to impose your own ambitions.
5️⃣ Harshness in the name of discipline — beating, shouting, threats, until fear becomes the house’s only language.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
«كَفى بالمرء إثماً أن يُضيّع مَن يَعول»
💡 Raising children is not about authority, but about mercy and justice. If we expect birr (kindness) from our children, we must also show them love, fairness, and respect.

Perfecting your wuḍū’ (ablution) is not just about physical purity — it cleanses you from sins.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
«مَن توضأ فأحسن الوضوء خرجت خطاياه من جسده حتى تخرج من تحت أظفاره»
(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim)

🌿 With every drop of water, sins fall away — even from beneath the fingernails.

Allah says:
"وَلَولا إِذ دَخَلتَ جَنَّتَكَ قُلتَ ما شاءَ اللَّهُ لا قُوَّةَ إِلّا بِاللَّهِ" -Surah Al-Kahf

Did you know that if you see a blessing — in yourself or others — and you don't say:
“MashaAllah, la quwwata illa billah”,
you may open the door to envy or loss? 💡
📖 Allah says:
"وَلَولا إِذ دَخَلتَ جَنَّتَكَ قُلتَ ما شاءَ اللَّهُ لا قُوَّةَ إِلّا بِاللَّهِ" -Surah Al-Kahf
📍When you see something beautiful:
Don’t boast
Don’t feel proud or entitled
Instead, say it with humility:
“MashaAllah, there is no power except with Allah”
🌿 Attribute the blessing to the One who gave it
Keep your heart connected to your Lord
Grateful, humble, and hopeful
