I’ve been reading Permission to Feel by Marc Brackett on our family road trip, and one statistic stopped me:
1 in 4 teenagers will develop an anxiety disorder.
Not because I believe one app, one story or one parenting rule can prevent anxiety.
But because Marc’s work reminds us that children are not born knowing how to recognize, understand, label, express and regulate everything they feel.
But learning this can help prevent so much mental hardship.
Those are skills they can develop…with practice and support.
As a mother, I kept returning to one question:
How can we help parents bring that practice into ordinary family life, years before their children reach adolescence?
That question became BELU.
Before each story, you share:
💜 what your child is feeling
💜 what inner strength you want to explore
💜 and, if you choose, what happened that day
BELU transforms that context into a personalized bedtime story in which your child becomes the hero.
The story doesn’t diagnose, treat or rush to fix the feeling.
It gives little ones language, imagination and a little narrative distance through which to explore it, while opening a meaningful conversation with you✨
I chose bedtime for children ages 3–10 because it’s been proven as a time of meaning making and integration we should protect.
…and one of the moments when the messages they hear (about themselves) can begin becoming the voice they carry inside.
BELU is where bedtime builds the inner voice💜
