NAF Distinguished Academy preparing future business & logistics professionals

This year, our students had the opportunity to learn from three outstanding mentors through our partnership with Junior Achievement.

Casey Byrnes Alvarez, Vice President at Northern Trust, guided our students through the Stock Market Challenge — a hands-on simulation where students analyze markets and make strategic decisions in order to build investment portfolios.

Our students are also participating in Entrepreneurial Mindset, a program designed to cultivate innovation and business-building skills. JA Mentors Thomas Bartsch, a seasoned marketing executive, and David Milgram, CEO of M Street Holdings brought their professional insights into every session, helping students explore what it takes to launch ideas into real businesses.

Last month, our Business & Logistics Academy students had the incredible opportunity to attend the Miami Dade College School of Global Business Advisory Board Meeting at Campus!

Our high school students were able to sit alongside college leadership and industry professionals to see firsthand how advisory boards help shape curriculum, align programs with real-world industry needs, and keep Supply Chain & Logistics education current with evolving trends.

Miami Dade College continues to lead the way with Associate and Bachelor’s degrees in Logistics and Supply Chain Management — creating a seamless pipeline from high school to college to career right here in South Florida.

Experiences like this expose our students to the next level — showing them what’s possible beyond graduation and reinforcing the power of industry partnerships.

Recently, our students had the opportunity to visit in Doral for an immersive, real-world look into global logistics operations.
This field trip was a collaborative experience alongside graduate and undergraduate Business and Logistics students from and , creating a powerful space for learning across levels and institutions.

During the visit, students gained insight into Expeditors’ end-to-end operations, from freight forwarding and compliance to supply chain coordination, and toured the warehouse to see these processes in action.

Experiences like this bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice, helping students understand the scale, precision, and teamwork behind global trade.

Today, we had the honor of hosting the incredible team from for a collaborative discussion at Miami Springs Senior High! 🦅

We kicked off the morning with a campus tour, program overviews, and powerful conversations about how we each support students through AICE, Logistics, Medical, and CTE pathways. From there, our guests explored our classrooms and labs meeting our amazing teachers, seeing our students in action, and exchanging ideas that strengthen both of our programs!

Visits like these remind us that when schools collaborate, students win. Thank you to Beachside High, Principal Bergamasco, Ms. Kendra Stone, and the entire AICE, Biomedical, and Logistics team for spending the morning with us. Also, special thanks to our team and administration for supporting us! We’re excited for what’s ahead! 🤝✨

Congratulations to Cristian Serrano! 🎉He’s officially the second intern hired by Freight this year — following in the footsteps of alumni, David Torres, who now works part-time as a Freight Handler.
Cristian has shown outstanding drive, professionalism, and leadership in our Business & Logistics Academy, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievement. Opportunities like this show our students that hard work really pays off — and that they, too, can launch real careers while still in high school. 💪📦

📈 Stock Market Finalists! We’re proud to announce that two of our Miami Springs Business & Logistics Academy teams have officially qualified for the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge Finals! 🏆

These same top-performing teams dominated the practice rounds — turning $1 million into $4.6 million and $4.1 million through smart strategy, teamwork, and real-world financial insight! 💼💰

They’ll now compete in the District Finals at Akerman LLC in Brickell this Thursday, representing Miami Springs Senior High with pride, professionalism, and dedication .
