Since I started bodybuilding 10 years ago, food is always been a struggle for me.โฃ

Initially, I was super restrictive to make sure Iโ€™d get shredded.โฃ

The online advice was to eat simple & boring foods such as chicken & rice.โฃ

Shortly after getting shredded, Iโ€™d replicate a YouTube 10-20k calories challenge.โฃ
โฃ
Of course, I'd soon start fo feel skinny and decide to bulk... โฃ
โฃ
Increasing food upwards to 6000 calories a day. โฃ
โฃ
6000 calories of clean foods ONLY. โฃ
โฃ
Shoulders hurting from all those containers full of pounds of rice, chicken & broccoli.โฃ
โฃ
Hard to say if the meals I was eating or if the winter in London was colder at the time.โฃ
โฃ
When food was too much to get in and I needed motivational eating videos...I decided to compete. โฃ
โฃ
Starved myself for months to only develop binge eating and weigh 50lbs more 3 months later.โฃ
โฃ
The struggle over the years is been real.โฃ
โฃ
But I have learned how to best manage it to get the right balance.โฃ

Enjoying foods & getting the desired results.โฃ

If it was for me I'd eat at Cheesecake Factory every night (well, if the budget allowed lol)โฃ

Only if I wasn't feeling like shid the next day, got fatter each week, and had my whole life impacted a few months later.โฃ

Like when I gained 50lbs and looked overweight.โฃ
โฃ
You just need to choose your priorities and balance things out.โฃ

You wonโ€™t ever see a fit person who binges on food and drinks each weekend.โฃ

Will you ever see me eating some junk food & sweet? At least once a week, lol.โฃ

I do love food, I just prioritize my wellbeing and who I am in life. โฃ

Once you find out what works for you, and the right nutrition, you can do both.โฃ

You donโ€™t need a restrictive diet or to starve yourself to get lean, thatโ€™s old school.โฃ

๐Ÿ  My brother transformed our attic into a mini-gym, complete with benches, barbells & dumbbells, and a few mirrors to strike a pose in front of. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
You know those dumbbells filled with sand or water? Yep, that was my jam. ๐Ÿ˜„โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
๐Ÿ’ช Back then, I was all about those bicep curls and ab workouts โ€“ no shame! LOL โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
My brother would demand flexing pics, and of course, I had to get in on the action too. ๐Ÿ“ธโฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
Looking back, it's hilarious to see how I've put on nearly 100 pounds and still consider myself "skinny." ๐Ÿ˜‚โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
๐ŸŒŸ But you know the secret that got me here? โฃโฃ

๐Ÿšซ No more fixating on when I'd hit certain milestones (X & Y). Just rolling with the punches and constantly improving! ๐Ÿ“ˆโฃโฃ

A wave of anxiety crashed over me, leaving me breathless.โฃโฃ
โฃ
I questioned if my business would thrive or crumble into failure.โฃโฃ
โฃ
โฃInstead of seeking therapy, I sought refuge in antidepressants.โฃโฃ
โฃ
I believed anxiety was an affliction I carried, a disease to be cured.โฃโฃ
โฃ
But everything spiraled downward from that moment on.โฃโฃ
โฃ
Six months of enduring horrific side effects, yet holding onto hope that one day it would all be worth it.โฃโฃ

I started tapering off. But despite the gradual withdrawal, I suffered the same tormenting side effects.โฃโฃ
โฃ
Anxiety, depression, the loss of drive and emotions, relentless fatigue, joint pain, insomnia, brain fog, and countless more.โฃโฃ

I made the decision to cease the medication.โฃ
โฃ
Three months later, I plunged into a full-blown withdrawal that I still find myself trapped within. Perhaps I am only halfway recovered now since almost 2 years ago when I took my first pill.โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
Every symptom intensified, and the uncertainty of each new day overwhelmed me.โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
The positive is that I have learned to control my own thoughts and mind.โฃ
โฃ
If only I had chosen that path from the beginning, I could have been in a position ten times better, flourishing in every aspect of my life. Instead, I foolishly relied on a quick fix.โฃโฃ

So, I've come away with a few crucial lessons:โฃโฃ

1. Quick fixes are futile; they only drag you further back.โฃโฃ
โฃ
2. Most of the time, we are our own greatest obstacle to living our best life.โฃโฃ

3. Every struggle is an opportunity to emerge as a stronger, more resilient individual.โฃโฃ

I am immensely grateful to have come this far, despite the hardships. โฃ

There were moments when I considered giving up when suicidal thoughts whispered in my mind. But not once did I surrender or quit.โฃโฃ
โฃ
I know that my purpose in this world is to make a meaningful impact, and I must persist in my efforts.โฃ

When you were in your 20s, you were super active.โฃ

Playing sports, rocking a nice body shape, going out loads.โฃ

And that makes you think your metabolism has slowed down.โฃ

Thatโ€™s not the case though, but, you can always speed it up.โฃ

Unless you start playing sports consistently and being super active by maybe quitting your desk job, your best bet is speeding up your metabolism.โฃ

So first of all, you get in an amazing shape.โฃ

And thenโ€ฆ you are able to keep that without starving yourself.โฃ

You do that by building muscle.โฃ
โฃ
Like actually having a program you KNOW helps you build muscle.โฃ

Having worked with 100s of men, one thing I noticed is that their training was at probably 10-20% of where it could be when they started.โฃ
โฃ
Despite the struggle of everyone is nutrition, you wonโ€™t believe the results you get as soon as you improve your training.โฃ

So instead of just focusing on eating little, pushing more than your gym pal, and restricting yourself from good foodsโ€ฆโฃ

Focus on having a good program where you can track your weights and progress them consistently.โฃ

When you are in a calorie deficit, you want to chooseโฃ

1-Foods that fill you upโฃ
2-Foods full of nutrientsโฃ

Thatโ€™s why in terms of carbsโฃ

Oats will be good because of the fibers and fats, they are gonna take longer to digest therefore keeping you fuller.โฃ

Sweet Potatoes will be a high-volume food so for 100g you get way fewer calories than 100g rice for example.โฃ
โฃ
Rice Cakes are the perfect snack, only 30 calories each and you can combine them with everything.โฃ
โฃ
Veggies are only around 50 calories per 100g (green ones) they have fibers as well so they are amazing for satiety.โฃ
โฃ
When it comes to proteins, white fish has really low calories, the same as chicken.โฃ
โฃ
Beef provides you with loads of nutrients such as iron & vitamins B.โฃ
โฃ
Yogurt is amazing for the volume it has, perfect to create a nice dessert with protein powder, some almond butter and maybe some frozen berries.โฃ
โฃ
In terms of fats, we got the most nutritious ones; avocado, almond butter, and dark chocolate to keep your cravings under control.โฃ

Test and see which ones work best for you and stick to those :)โฃ

I also do recommend having a nice variety of items in your meal plan instead of eating rice and chicken 5x day.โฃ

You need to get as many nutrients as you can while you are dieting on relatively low calories. โฃ

Body composition seems the same when you look in the mirror?โฃ

Do clothes fit the same?โฃ

It might be time for a diet break but first things first.โฃ

1๏ธโƒฃ-Are you 100% consistent with your calorie tracking?โฃ
2๏ธโƒฃ-Are you 100% consistent with your training and cardio?โฃ
3๏ธโƒฃ-Is your sleep good?โฃ
4๏ธโƒฃ-Are you managing stress and keeping it low?โฃ
5๏ธโƒฃ-Are you moving the same amount each week? (step count)โฃ
โฃ
If so, then you qualify for the diet break.โฃ
โฃ
๐Ÿ‘‰When you are dieting down your body adapts to the calorie deficit to preserve energy.โฃ
โฃ
If you keep cutting calories or adding cardio you will only get to an unsustainable point.โฃ
โฃ
So itโ€™s better to get a diet break every 8-12 weeks.โฃ
โฃ
12-16 if your body fat is quite high (20-25% +)โฃ
โฃ
๐Ÿ‘‰A diet break is a week at maintenance calories.โฃ
โฃ
If you want to keep it simple, add 500-700 calories to your current ones.โฃ
โฃ
Even if you go a bit above, no big deal.โฃ
โฃ
In this way, your metabolism will speed back up.โฃ

Your body will adapt to higher calories.โฃ
โฃ
Your hunger hormones will be back in balance. โš–๏ธโฃ

And you will start losing body fat & weight again when you lower your calories back to what they were!โฃ

I suggest taking a week diet break if your body fat is between 15-20%โฃ

Two weeks if anything above 20%โฃ

I still remember looking in that mirror and finally seeing my shape changing.โฃ

I was doing 20 minutes of weight during my MMA training ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธโฃ

That 20 minutes pump, started it all.โฃ

Time to get a gym membership.โฃ

I was able to convince my brother to train with him, well, at least for the first session lol.โฃ

I was extremely skinny.โฃ

I started to look at any possible youtube video and follow all the influencers to learn as much as possible.โฃ

I even got myself a gym buddy to spot me on all the lifts (donโ€™t do this ๐Ÿšซ) โฃ

A few months and the results were in ๐Ÿคฏโฃ

What an incredible feeling going aroundโ€ฆโฃ

People started to see me from a different lens.โฃ

I started taking them at the end of 2021 because I was living in a state of fight or flight constantly.โฃ
