MY DESCENDING DEVICE SETUP 🎣

When you need to descend a fish, you want your descending device ready to go—not tangled up or buried somewhere on the boat.

I keep my dedicated rod and reel in one rod holder and my descending device right next to it. I leave the reel in free spool with the clicker on, so I can pull the device where I need it without the line backlashing.

That way, it's ready when I need to get a fish back down quickly. 🎣

Got him all the way to the boat… got him on the measuring board… and then watched him flop right back into the Gulf! 🤦‍♂️😂

You can't make this stuff up. My wife sure enjoyed it! 🎣

Thursday update: Stephen had an ultrasound to check for any cysts or an abscess that might explain where the salmonella is hanging on, nothing was seen. He does have C diff though, but mild, so Dr thinks it will resolve on its own once Stephen gets better. They started low dose steroids to protect the kidney until thing become clearer. But fortunately Stephen is not in any pain or discomfort, just gets a bit anxious with some of the tests.

Back in the hospital 😬. Stephen’s infection came back. This is now the third recurrence of a salmonella urinary infection. It seems it was never totally eradicated from the previous antibiotic treatments, so we were admitted for IV antibiotics and tests to try to figure out where the infection is “hiding”.

With the bad weather and Hurricane we had this week we weren’t able to get out to fish. But our daughter, Caroline, son in law Clark, and our new grandson, Mason are here for a visit so we took advantage of some good weather and rode over to Apalachicola for lunch. Boys are going fishing tomorrow!!!
