Saint Joseph High School - Metuchen Campus Ministry

It’s hard to believe our week of service has come to a close. We spent a very hot Wednesday in NYC starting with a ferry ride before heading to the site of the 9/11 Memorial. After a brief prayer service the students placed flags in the name of each person who lost their life that morning, including 3 SJHS alumni. For lunch we ventured to Little Italy and then on to St Patrick’s. We tried to support our British brothers by catching the FIFA watch party in Rockefeller Center but didn’t have much luck. The night ended with a prayer service focused on the Open Heart charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart followed by some karaoke fun. It was a fantastic week filled with service, prayer and fellowship.

Days 2 & 3 of our BOSH Mission trip had us making brunch and sweet treats at Ronald McDonald house, helping to clean classrooms at the church and school of St Joan of Arc and painting shared library boxes . .Nighttime activities included BBQ dinner with the McClancy Brothers and a presentation by NYPD band and K-9 unit. Then we topped off the night celebrating Br Nelson’s 80th birthday.

SJ Outreach takes part in the BOSH Mission trip this summer. All 10 schools in the US province (including one from England) gathered at Msgr McClancy in Queens for a week of service and fun. Our first bonding experience included a Mets game at Citi Field.

Heavenly Father, Lord of all nations,

On this 250th birthday of the United States, we lift our hearts in gratitude for the blessings You have poured upon our land.

Look with mercy upon our people: strengthen what is good, heal what is wounded, and restore what has grown weary.

Through the intercession of Mary, Immaculate Patroness of our country, guard our families, guide our leaders, and keep us faithful to the dignity of every human life.

Kindle in us a renewed love for truth, a courageous desire for justice, and a generous heart for our neighbor.

May the Holy Spirit make us a nation that seeks Your will, walks in Your peace, and reflects the light of Christ to all the world.

Congratulations Kyle and Lucas!!

On Monday, June 1st, Fr. Jonathan Toborowsky, Diocesan Administrator, met for a very special lunch with four young men, where he informed them the good news that they have been accepted and are officially joining the Diocese, as seminarians, to study to become our future priests.

Congratulations to Kyle Giuliano ‘24 and Lucas Pick ‘16 who have been accepted to the seminary for the Diocese of Metuchen and will be seminarians this fall! May God richly bless you and strengthen you on this journey.

Heavenly Father, we lift up in prayer today our brothers and sisters who have gone before us, sacrificing their own lives for the protection and safety of others. We are grateful for their service. May they inspire us to live selflessly in our own lives, as Christ calls us to do. In Jesus’s name we pray.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with the fire of your divine love. Let your presence guide us with holy wisdom and heavenly strength, that we may walk faithfully in the will of God, now and always.
