While our school is closed for the holidays this week…training never stops.

Here, my brothers and .palao train in Bayani Arnis Stick and Knife early this morning after a sparring session.

Training with my family during the holidays is one of the best ways to spend the holiday season. As it is important to me to ensure my relatives train as much as possible.

Bottom line: If you cannot fight off a mugger or a criminal coming to harm your body, then you aren’t going to have much of a chance against the demonic forces at play throughout the world coming to harm your soul.

If you cannot fight off a violent attack, then dealing with a spiritual attack (which is often harder to deal with) will be far harder.

The self-discipline, self-control, and inner strength found in combative training lends itself to the spiritual journey. As once said “Nothing is neutral to the soul.” Everything we do in our physical body and physical world has a direct correlation to what we do in the spiritual world. As such, training our body and mind through the martial arts, along with a strong prayer life, helps better prepare one to handle the battles of the soul.
