🎻 Scenes from one of this weekend's Westerhoff recitals!
We're so proud of all of the many students who performed and shared the music they've been working on this semester. From first-time performers to more experienced students, everyone brought hard work, focus, and musicianship to the stage.
Thank you to our students, families, teachers, and accompanists for helping make this recital season such a success. Congratulations to all of our performers on a wonderful semester!

Looking for something musical to do this weekend?
We're excited to share that Westerhoff violin instructor Liz Wright will be performing with the New Jersey Festival Orchestra this Saturday evening in Westfield.
The concert features guest guitarist Karol Samuelčík performing Rodrigo's *Fantasía para un gentilhombre*, along with Rimsky-Korsakov's *Scheherazade*—a colorful and exciting work filled with adventure, fantasy, and some beautiful violin solos.
For students and families who have never experienced a live orchestra, this could be a wonderful opportunity.
Break a leg, Liz! 🎻

Today we’re celebrating the people who make everything we do possible.
Our teachers show up each week with patience, creativity, and a real commitment to every student who walks through our doors. The confidence, focus, and pride our students build over time all start with them.
We’re incredibly grateful for the entire Westerhoff faculty.
Take a moment today to thank your teacher 💛

Some cool news from the Westerhoff community 🎶
Recently, our own LaJuan Carter performed at a special event, backing up Pink and Renée Elise Goldsberry (Tony Award-winning “Angelica” from Hamilton).
Also pictured is Billy Mann, a songwriter and producer behind work with artists like Pink, Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, Martina McBride, Bebe Rexha, and David Guetta.
We love seeing our teachers out there doing what they do at such a high level—and then bringing that experience right back into the lesson room for our students.

New Special Workshop: Music Reading for Beginners
A fun introduction to reading and understanding music
Learning to read music is one of the most important skills for young musicians — and it can also be one of the most fun.
In this special hands-on workshop, students will practice and reinforce the same core skills they are developing in their weekly lessons by exploring the building blocks of music through games, activities, and interactive exercises designed to make music reading feel natural and exciting.
Whether a student plays piano, violin, guitar, or another instrument, understanding how music works on the page helps them become more confident and independent musicians.
If your child is in those early stages of learning to read music, this is a great way to support what they’re already working on each week.

There’s a moment we see all the time at Westerhoff…
A student finishes a piece, looks up, and says,
“Wait… I can actually play this.”
It’s not flashy. It’s not loud.
But it’s real.
That quiet confidence—built week by week—is what music and art lessons are really about.
Not just learning notes or techniques…
…but learning how to stick with something, work through it, and come out the other side proud.
And that’s the part that stays with them. 🎶🎨
