Archbishop Rummel Football 4th Quarter Club

Congrats to Taylor Russolino, Place Kicker of the XFL Champion Arlington Renegades. The Rummel alum and converted soccer player didn’t play football until his senior year, and has been a model of perseverance, having spent time on 9 different professional rosters including the New Orleans Voodoo of the Arena League and the Denver Broncos in the NFL.

Taylor was 3/3 in tonight’s championship game including this 51-yarder, and was 5/5 in the postseason.

LSU adds South Carolina transfer LB Kolbe Fields, who starred at Archbishop Rummel LSU added its 13th player through the NCAA transfer portal Sunday afternoon, this time bolstering the linebacker room with another Louisiana native.

This weekend two Rummel alumni and their teams face off in the NFL for a spot in the AFC championship: Kristian Fulton ‘16 of the Tennessee Titans and Ja’Marr Chase ‘18 of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Rookie Bengals WR and Rummel Alum Ja’Marr Chase dropped a couple of passes in preseason and the armchair critics took to social media to declare him a bust.

They are not saying that now.

In the history of the NFL there have been many great ones play the position, yet no rookie WR has amassed more receiving yards in a single game (266 vs Chiefs last week) or in a full season (1,429 with 1 game remaining). Those of us who saw him play in HS knew he was a special talent, but talent is common. It’s the work he has put in at every level and his determination to be the greatest to ensure that his potential has become realized that’s so impressive.
