The Eastfield Dance Department offers dance education and performance opportunities for the college. They audition work and are supervised by faculty members.
Join us in the exciting endeavor to grow a quality collegiate dance department in East Dallas and Mesquite, TX. The Eastfield Dance Department under the direction of Professor Danielle Georgiou serves as a vital dance training center for east Dallas County. The Eastfield Dance program features an experienced faculty dedicated to providing students the skills and training necessary to pursue a care
er in dance. We strive to present professional-quality classes and productions, giving students a firm foundation in dance, dance performance, choreography, and production design. The faculty includes Lead Faculty Member Danielle Georgiou and adjunct faculty member Robert Alvarez. Alumni of the program have gone on to be accepted into dance programs at the University of Oklahoma, University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, Sam Houston State University, University of Texas at Dallas, and the University of Texas at Arlington. Alumni have also gone on to training programs with notable national companies and to dance professionally. The Eastfield College Dance Company performs regularly on-campus, and collaborates with the Eastfield College Theatre and Visual Art Departments. The curriculum offers a diverse selection of dance classes including: ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, body conditioning, choreography, and performance. Students also have the opportunity to enroll in DANC 1151: Dance Performance and become a part of the Eastfield Dance Company. The Eastfield Dance Company consists of students who share a love for dancing and performing. The dancers balance their passion for the performing arts with their value for education, creating a hardworking, committed company. The Eastfield Dance Company is also committed to bringing in outside guest artists to participate in short-term residency projects with the dancers. The Company has had the pleasure of working with Whitney Boomer and Big Rig Dance Collective, Antonio Arrebola and Delilah Buitron of the Dallas Flamenco Festival, Emilie Skinner and Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet, The Danielle Georgiou Dance Group, Kiera Amison of Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, Melissa Sanderson, Meredith Knight, Sarah Matzke, Christie Nelson, Claire Augustine, Elisa De La Rosa, Yeajean Choi, Brandon Gonzalez, Jennifer Mabus, and Jasmine Morris of CholoRock Dance Collective. In 2015, faculty member Melissa Sanderson created the Faculty Dance Concert, during which faculty members and invited professionals create and premiere original works of choreography. ⭐️ Filmmaker Spotlight! ⭐️
Meet EFDC alumni and filmmaker Dakota T. Muenz!
Dakota is a NYC‑based performer and choreographer whose work blends conceptual choreography, satire, and narrative to explore belief systems, agency, and collective identity through contemporary dance and dance film. He currently works with Dance Project of Washington Heights and Mudhouse Residency, and has previously collaborated with the TWU Department of Dance, Staibdance in Italy, and Black Gold Dance Company. This marks Dakota’s 10th year with Eastfield Dance Company, and he is honored to return to the place where his artistic journey began with FROM THE VOID.

⭐️ Choreographer Spotlight! ⭐️
Meet EFDC member and choreographer Natalie Venzor!
Natalie Venzor has been a dancer ever since she was young, from dancing with her high school drill team to now being a new member of the Eastfield Dance Company; she will be introducing her piece, STAY WITH YOU, which was inspired by melodies and musical choices used in Korean pop. Natalie will also be joining us again next semester in hopes of creating more pieces, performing and strengthen her skills in dance.
