2nd grade worked on composing numbers today! In lieu of using blocks they got creative with graham crackers, pretzels and skittles! What a tasty experience! Thank you Ms. Taylor and Ms. Cisneros for making learning fun!

Last Friday, we celebrated the life of Dolly Parton and her contribution to education.
She helped millions of children become readers. Through her Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, children receive free, high-quality books from birth to age five. The program has distributed hundreds of millions of books to children around the world.
Dolly helped students pursue college. Her Dollywood Foundation created scholarship opportunities to encourage students to graduate from high school and continue their education.

In celebration of National Lemonade Day, our Lawrence Leadership Team treated our amazing teachers to a refreshing cup of lemonade! 🍋 It was so wonderful to see everyone smiling, enjoying their lemonade, and taking a little moment to feel appreciated.

We are truly so lucky to have the BEST teachers in the district—and they’re all right here at Lawrence!💙🐾

Our Lawrence Leopards came ready to meet their teachers, drop off supplies, and enjoy a popsicle from Ms. Daugherty and Mrs. Velarde! 🍧

The Lawrence staff is ready to welcome our Leopards back this Tuesday for a fantastic and successful school year! 📚✏️💙

Dear Lawrence Families,
Welcome to a new school year! My name is Carolyn Daugherty, and I am truly honored and excited to serve as the new Principal of Lawrence Elementary.
As a proud graduate of Poteet High School and a lifelong member of the Mesquite ISD family, it is a privilege to continue serving the community that has shaped both my life and my career. I am passionate about creating an environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.
At Lawrence, I believe that our greatest success comes from the strong partnerships we build with our families and community. Together, we can create meaningful opportunities that empower our students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your involvement, support, and trust are essential, and I look forward to working alongside you throughout the year.
As your principal, I am committed to fostering a culture of high expectations, meaningful relationships, and continuous growth. Every child has unique strengths and talents, and it is our responsibility to nurture those gifts while preparing students for a bright and successful future.
Lawrence Elementary is much more than a school—it is a family. I am honored to join our dedicated staff and incredible families as we support, encourage, and celebrate our Lawrence Leopards every step of the way.
