Exciting news, Mescalero community! Join us for the 2026 Blessing Run, honoring 161 years of Mescalero Apache perseverance and resilience.

On Saturday, November 21, we’ll run 85 miles from Bosque Redondo to Roswell. On Sunday, November 22, we’ll continue 75 miles from Roswell to the Indian Mountain area in Mescalero. Blessings begin each morning, and we expect to finish around dusk. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided both days.

The Bosque Redondo exhibit will be open for tours on Friday, November 20. T-shirts are available to the first 200 participants.

Our ancestors endured forced removal and imprisonment at Bosque Redondo in 1863–1864, persevered, escaped in 1865, and returned home. We run to honor their strength, resilience, and enduring spirit.

To sign up, call the Mescalero Tribal Historic Preservation Office at (575) 464-3005.

The Mescalero Apache Tribe is not responsible for lost articles or personal injury.

HIGH WIND DAMAGE & POWER OUTAGE UPDATE
Tuesday, September 29, 2026 — Evening Update

High winds moved through Gallerito Flats, downing numerous trees and power poles. Power outages are affecting Mescalero, South Tularosa Canyon, and surrounding areas.

Otero County Electric Cooperative “OCEC” crews are working to restore power, but no estimated restoration time is available yet.

Tribal staff are conducting welfare checks on elders in affected areas. If you or someone in your household has medical needs due to the outage, please contact the Mescalero EOC for assistance.

Safety reminders:

Stay away from downed power lines; assume every line is energized.

Do not move fallen trees or limbs near power lines.

Report hazards to OCEC or the Tribal EOC.
