Meet Erica Jones (Academic Coach)
With 18 years of dedicated service to Edkey, Erica Jones is the definition of a team player and a true asset to our Learning Center in Phoenix. She was an absolute rock star during state testing this spring, jumping in wherever she was needed to make sure everything ran smoothly for our students and families. Day in and day out, Erica goes above and beyond to make every student who walks through the door feel welcomed, supported, and ready to succeed. Thank you, Erica — we are so lucky to have you!

What inspired you to work in education?

I have always been inspired to create a safe environment where students can thrive academically and personally, becoming successful in whatever they want to do.

What do you love most about your role at Sequoia Choice AZDL?

I love being able to be a guidance counselor and coach to students and families, but also being able to interact with the online staff and assisting staff from different schools. I love that I can go to anyone within the Choice family if I need help, and all of them will do what they can to assist me.

If you could give one piece of advice to students about online learning, what would it be?

Lock in, even though it may feel impossible, prove that it is possible.

What is your favorite hobby or activity outside of work?

Going to my daughter's cheer and tumbling, teaching my son to drive with my husband, and having family days out and about.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, and how has it shaped your career or life?

From Mr. Jevon Lewis: Best Day of My Life. Make every day the best day of your life, and treat every day as a new day and another chance to grow and make a change in someone else's and my own for the better. And always smile, they are contagious and can make someone else's day!
