Dan Mintz, after 12 seasons playing TINA on FOX’s BOB’S BURGERS they are finally making a movie! The Belcher Family is going to be on the big screen. Dan, it was a delight having you in class all those years. Bill and I were so excited when you came to us at class one night to say you had gone on an audition for a new animated show. You were excited to play the part of a young boy on the show. But one week later you arrived at class and said they changed the young boy part to a female and she was going to be called Tina. I told you how sorry I was for losing the role but you said, “No, I didn’t lose the role.” The show still wanted your voice for the girl’s part. I said, really? You said yes! And this is where you are today.

Thank you David for your honest and loving thoughts about your time studying with us. You were always a joy to work with and I love your Liberty Mutual ads:
“I was thinking about acting and why I love acting and it's because I get to step into this magic space between the beginning and end of the scene. It's electric and alive. When it's truly connected, you're living an imaginary life as if it's real. It's like a dream or parallel universe. That's really powerful.
Then I was thinking about moments on set when I've felt that way and then I thought about your class. I loved going to class because it was basically a place that I could step into the magic space without having to wait for a job. And I couldn't be fired or replaced for making a bold choice or a "mistake." It was like a playground. Ever since your class, I've been addicted to that magic space. Before, I was more addicted to "getting the job." The confidence I gained in your class emboldened me to be bold in auditions and on set. You really changed my relationship with acting from a profession to a revelation, a channel, and a magical experience. Thank you for pulling back the curtain, at the exact time I was ready to see. Taking class with Bill and Carla was the smartest thing I’ve ever done for my growth as an actor. From the very first meeting, Bill gave me permission to be honest as an actor.” — David Hoffman

Seven Acting Articles written by the late Bill Howey for Backstage
Years ago BACKSTAGE asked us to write some acting articles for the magazine. Bill and Carla took seven of the many acting articles we handed out in our acting classes and submitted them. Thought it was a good idea to revisit them on the Howey Acting Studio page. Since there is no time limit on beneficial acting advice here they are.

Well Done Steve Howey on booking the Arnold Schwarzenegger role in the new CBS series, TRUE LIES. Mr. James Cameron finally got to bring his 1994 movie to TV. I know it's going to be a hit. Dad was so proud of you when you told us last month before he died. It's a shame he won't get to see it. Good luck on finding a "Wife" to play the Jamie Lee Curtis role.
Steve Howey (Bill and Carla Howey's son) has been cast in one of the lead roles in the CBS drama pilot based on the movie “True Lies,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Howey will star as Harry, the role played in the film by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The character is described as a benign, play-it-safe, seemingly risk-averse computer salesman and devoted family man, married with two kids. But in reality, Harry is an undercover operative, a first-class spy working for a covert U.S. Intelligence organization.
Like the film, Harry’s unfulfilled suburban wife is propelled into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage. The wife role, which was played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the film, has yet to be cast.
