ASU Power plants class students visited Chandler Gilbert Community College on 6/7 Sept 22 to observe radial engines at CGCC. Class discussions were held on this topic in previous lectures.

This past week the ASU aircraft power plants lab class visited the CCGC facility. Our students were able to observe radial engines to follow up on information from the lectures. A good time was had by all.
ASUAviation Programs took possession of a Mark 102 Rolls-Royce engine today. The engine first ran 1946 and was used on canberra,comets,Hawker Hunters and Electric Lightning aircraft. Now it will be used for student training. Mr. Alan B operated the forklift to carefully unload the engine from a trailer.Thank you Alan.
This week the power plants class as a lab class visited Aircraft Engine Specialist. A piston engine overhaul business near chandler airport.A good time was had by all the students as they observed the engine overhaul process.

ASU Aviation hosted a visit,6 jun19 by 17 students from the ACE Academy. The academy is sponsored by,The Archer-Ragsdale Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen inc.The students are all highly motivated toward careers in aviation. They observed the engines lab, structures lab, and flew some of the ASU simulators followed by a visit to the flight line.Their academy last for a week and is usually meets in June.It is always a pleasure to host the ACE academy students and their chaperones.
ASU Aviations Program’s Spring 2019 semester-AMT 287, aircraft power plants course lab activities. Students visited American Airlines engine shop and others visited Southwest Airlines hangar in May19. All three labs visited the general aviation piston engine overhaul facility,Aircraft Engine Specialist located near Chandler Airport earlier in the term. Pictures attached .
End of Spring Semester2019, at ASU Aviation. AMT 280 course high lights topics- weight and balance training,basic hydraulics,building aluminum sandwich composite, riveting practice and building / testing airfoil project in wind tunnel, and bending metal. A good learning experience for all aviation students!

ASU- Aviation Programs hosted a visit by the Ace Academy students on 10 Jun 2018. These students are sponsored by the Archer-Ragsdale Chapter of the Tuskegee Airman Inc. They are all highly motivated and interested in a career in aviation. They visited all the ASU simulators, laboratories (Air Traffic Control, Engines,Aircraft Structures) and the flight line where the ASU provided contractor (ATP) does the actual FAA flight training at Gateway Airport. A good time was had by all and it was a pleasure for ASU to host these students.

ASU Powerplants Tuesday afternoon lab class, students visited Honeywell today. They observed engines being assembled, apu’s assembly and additive parts being manufactured. Many thanks to Honeywell for hosting our visit.
ASU Power plant Wednesday evening class visited Southwest Airlines this past week. Received briefings on maintenance,parts management, window repairs,fuel float sticks, apu’s and toured a B-737. Many thanks to SWA for hosting our visit.

ASU Aviation Programs aerospace structures class students are finishing their projects as the semester is nearing the end.
Projects shown are the sandwich aluminum composite manufacture and a repair of it plus the aluminum aero foil manufacture followed by wind tunnel testing, and a report.
Additionally another exercise involves weight and balance of a scale airline model. The model is used to determine the empty weight CG and of course the empty weight. Great training for pilots. Management, UAV and ATC students.
Come visit the ASU table this Saturday at the fly-in and open house located at Falcon Field. Students and faculty in the aviation program will be there along with an ASU Piper Seminole on display.
ASU Power plant lab class students visit an aircraft engine overhaul business this past week. Everyone learned much, thank you Aircraft Engine Specialist for hosting the tour. Subjects covered was inspections, NDI,assembly,records and test running of the engines.
