STOP SCROLLING! You have to see the cuteness from our recent visit to the EVIT Veterinary Assistant program.

Though hanging out with animals is a perk, that's not all the program is about. Students are learning how to assist with radiographs, learning to assist with administering medications and vaccines, performing animal restraint and assisting with surgery, and so much more.

Students may have a chance to participate in job shadowing or externships, depending on availability.

Today, Gov. Doug Ducey and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman extended the closure of Arizona's schools through Friday, April 10. More details: https://azgovernor.gov/governor/news/2020/03/governor-ducey-superintendent-hoffman-announce-two-week-extension-school

EVIT administrators and faculty are currently developing online instruction and enrichment activities that will start mid- to late-next week, and will help prepare EVIT students to earn industry certifications or to develop a portfolio of their work that can be used to help secure employment or admission to post-secondary schools.

Kaydee is doing her externship at a doggie resort/daycare center and sent me this picture of her with one of the animals. She is enjoying her externship so far.

Jessica Berger and her second-year EVIT Veterinary Assistant students were learning to wrap surgical gowns for sterilization today. It may sound easy but there is a particular way to wrap the materials gowns so they are ready for use after sterilization that can be a bit challenging.

Also, we also got to visit with some of the students' animal friends as well as catch a quick lesson in nail trimming on a small bird.
