All 56 of our elementary campuses were again named to the America's Healthiest Schools list by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation ! The annual award program recognizes schools for implementing best practices in areas like nutrition, physical activity, school health services, staff well‑being, and family engagement.

On November 3, 2026, Mesa voters will consider Proposition 419, a bond election that would fund improvements at schools across Mesa Public Schools.

If approved, a portion of the funds would be designated for Red Mountain for proposed campus improvements, including:
$41 million - Major Campus-Wide Renovations
$4 million - Technology

In July, Kerr Center for Agriscience teacher Tonya St. John was recognized as the 2025-26 Superstition Region Ag Teacher of the Year.

Westwood High School principal Chris Gilmore also received the Arizona Agriculture Teachers Association (AATA) Outstanding Administrator of the Year award. He will be honored again with the Honorary American FFA Degree, the highest degree bestowed upon an individual by the National FFA Organization, during the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo this October.

Proposition 419 would address a portion of Mesa Public Schools’ $1.4 billion in identified capital needs, based on facility assessments and input from the Governing Board, parent groups and a community budget committee.

Approximate bond allocation:
70% – District facility improvements, including air conditioning, roofing, plumbing, electrical and structural needs
10% – Safety, security and technology infrastructure
15% – Site-based projects identified by schools
5% – Career and Technical Education (CTE) improvements

Voters within Mesa Public Schools boundaries will vote on the bond during the General Election on Nov. 3, 2026. The estimated cost to taxpayers for this bond is $0.81 per $100 of net assessed value.

We’re proud to congratulate Westwood High School graduate Desiree Angulo on receiving the prestigious Navajo Nation Chief Manuelito Scholarship!
Desiree graduated from Westwood this past May and was only one of a select few Arizonans to receive the award. She plans to use the scholarship to support her studies at the University of Arizona Honors College.
