What a beautiful day for a field trip to the Gilbert Riparian Preserve.

The kids named the turtles, followed the water bubbling up from the earth down the hill under the walkway through the bushes to the main body of water, studied the birds, and ran around the raised concrete walkway.

When the day was done, it was hard to pack up and leave behind nature's enduring peace.

Writing is such a powerful tool for children to learn. It always inspires me when I watch them struggle through the transition of quality sentence writing to well-constructed paragraphs. The first time takes them a week and the next time a couple of days soon they inspire themselves when they reread their work.

Making bread is a fun way to do math and science. Yesterday we learned that there are 16 tablespoons in a cup and 16 cups in a gallon. Each child took their loaf home to their family.
