Are you looking for an opportunity to get more involved and serve within WTSDA?

The WTSDA Business Committee is expanding the Family Connections Program, bringing schools and members together across regions and countries to build relationships, share ideas, and strengthen our worldwide connection as One Family.

This is also a unique opportunity to meet, work with, and build relationships with WTSDA school owners and leaders from around the world.

We are currently accepting applications for two volunteer opportunities:

You do not need to be a school owner to apply. We welcome WTSDA members in good standing who are dependable, positive, willing to contribute, and interested in helping strengthen our worldwide WTSDA family.

🌎 Bilingual and multilingual members are especially encouraged to apply.

If you've been looking for a way to get involved, contribute your talents, and serve WTSDA beyond your own school or region, this may be the opportunity for you.

We'd love to hear from you!

GRANDMASTER SHIN JAE-CHUL β€” A LEGEND OF MARTIAL ARTS

Grandmaster Shin Jae-chul represents the spirit of discipline, dedication, and lifelong commitment to martial arts. His journey reminds martial artists around the world that true strength is not measured only by speed, power, or the number of victories achieved. True strength is also found in character, humility, respect, perseverance, and the ability to continue moving forward through every challenge.

Martial arts are more than fighting techniques. A powerful kick, a precise punch, or a perfect form means little without discipline and self-control. The deeper purpose of martial arts is to develop the person behind the technique. Training teaches us to respect our teachers, support our training partners, control our emotions, and face difficulties with courage.

Grandmaster Shin Jae-chul dedicated his life to sharing these values through martial arts. His influence can be seen not only in the students who learned techniques under his guidance, but also in the generations of martial artists inspired by the principles he represented. A true master does not simply create strong fighters. A true master helps create better human beings.

Every training session is an opportunity to improve. Sometimes progress is visible. Sometimes it is slow and difficult to recognize. There are days when the body feels tired, techniques feel difficult, and motivation disappears. Yet martial arts teach an important lesson: do not stop simply because the journey is difficult.

Respect is the foundation. Discipline creates consistency. Humility keeps the mind open to learning. Perseverance allows us to continue when others give up. Excellence is not achieved in a single day; it is built through countless hours of practice.

The legacy of a great martial artist continues when knowledge is passed from teacher to student and from one generation to the next. Every bow, every training session, every correction, and every lesson becomes part of that continuing tradition.

Grandmaster Shin Jae-chul stands as a symbol of this philosophy: martial arts should build not only stronger bodies, but also stronger minds and better character. The greatest victory is not always over an opponent. Sometimes, the greatest victory is over fear, anger, laziness, ego, and the limitations we place upon ourselves.

Keep training. Keep learning. Respect your teachers and training partners. Never forget the traditions that shaped the martial arts journey. Train with intensity, but live with humility. Become stronger, not only in the dojo, but also in everyday life.

A true martial artist never stops improving. A true legacy never disappears.

Our 1st Gup Red Belts took their final Gup test and earned Cho Dan Bo (Black Belt Candidate) rank. This is a difficult test where they spend 3ish hours being tested and asked to demonstrate all their forms, techniques, one steps, self defense, rolls, falls, sparring and more. Passing this test is the same requirement for any age student and we had three younger kids complete this step. We are so proud of them!
