My goal in tutoring is to sooner or later not be needed, meaning the students are doing well without extra help. My favorite thing is when I still get to visit with them. Here we are searching for a funny video from October π

It's been a whileπ€― Check out what my big kids and I have been up to! I'm starting to schedule for summer! If you have a big kid (or little) in the East Valley/Scottsdale/Phoenix area who needs some extra help, shoot me a message. I also accept the ESA scholarship.
Good news! I am officially an approved vendor for the ESA scholarship. If you need some extra help, feel free to send a message!

I'd like to share a pro tip for the homework wars. It may take a little more of your time, but is worth it. Changing your tone from "you need to do this" to "we can do this" can go a long way. Yes, they still need to do their homework, but treating it like a thing that you will support them through makes it less scary. As a former kid with homework anxiety, this would have gone a long way with me. We can do hard things, folks!

The other day I had a change of plans. The little human attached to these little hands said "I hate math". The lesson plan went out the window (figuratively) and I brought in the cubes. I didn't tell her what to do, I just started building with her. From there, these little hands built a stairway and wondered how many cubes it would take to build the next step. We made patterns and counted to 100. Let's preserve a little bit of that joy in learning, deal?

When I do use worksheets, I like to make them colorful. The clear pockets at the dollar store let you use them again and again too! Also, the littles like using the colorful dry erase markers more than pencils. win-win-win
