What does it take to be brave?
Bravery by definition means having the courage to face challenges, danger, or fear, whether it be physically or emotionally. It is the ability to act even when one may feel afraid or unsure. Bravery often involves taking risks and standing up for what is right, even in the face of opposition or criticism.
Being brave it not easy. It requires strength, resilience, and a willingness to step outside of one's comfort zone in order to achieve a goal or to make a positive impact. Some of us are brave in little ways that can feel big to us. These are often unseen on the outside, but felt greatly on the inside.
Our teenagers are brave when they take a risk to be vulnerable. They live in a world that can be harsh on mistakes and has many expectations. From balancing grades, social interactions, family relationships, and sometimes even jobs in a short period fosters huge brain growth. This is quite remarkable!
When we think about all that they face every day- as they work to develop themselves through these critical developmental years, we begin to see them as brave.

Meet “Hoot”.
Isn’t it the most perfect gender-neutral name ever, given our 🦉 owl obsession? Hoot was named by Miss Ellie and the name received about 60% of the class vote, followed by “Angel” and then “Luca”. Best part is they didn’t even notice the math lesson thrown into the fun! 🫶🏻
Our first day of fun was filled with so many laughs, so much opportunity and excitement for more!
