Apologies for the MIA behavior, but hey…I was able to break out the vest today to speak to some great future rad techs! Also, what a stressful time for students, family of students, and educators (and family of educators 😜)?!? The finish line is just right around the corner. Don’t forget your “why” and may the holiday break be rewarding! Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄

This is the week I can let my career in radiology collide with education! Those who are not here for healthcare information, I believe you’ll find the science quite intriguing!
That time you stood with your child wearing a lead apron while an x-ray was performed, or maybe when a family member was rushed to the Cath lab, or even that time your meniscus tear was diagnosed by MRI…
Can we even imagine a world without this technology?
Let’s start with why this week is known as National Rad Tech Week…
Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen and the discovery of the X-rays On November 8, 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered the X-rays. He initially kept the discovery to himself and barricaded himself in his laboratory for th...

How can AI help and not just from an educational standpoint? Are you thinking, “Yeah…sure…let’s all just let AI do the parenting!” Squash that. Sometimes our mom brains have used up all the creativity, knowledge, & patience that we have to offer. Then you start thinking about your day. All those scenarios when you wished you handled it differently, or you just wish you knew how to handle it. What can you do to make it better next time? I used ChatGpt because I know it can pick up on key terms in what I want even though I don’t know how to make it come to life on my own. You can literally write it like a story without giving significant detail and honestly, it feels pretty good to write down those thoughts. By taking key words into account plus what I tried to achieve, here is an example of how ChatGPT responded. Key phrases such as “praising bravery and kindness,” “here is an example,” “three year old,” and “how can I help teach him?” allowed for practices that I can research to see if they are appropriate and helpful for his age. Could this type of assistance help with the educational world? Oh yes. For example, “My child is in the fourth grade and having a hard time remembering the phases of matter. Can you come up with a mnemonic or some type of study tip?” You can use it wisely, use it to get a baseline, and use it to spark ideas.

Axl has had weekly learning objectives from his school, and I really wanted to try to honor his educational journey this week.
I was able to blend in a few learning minutes with our fun, play day at the zoo. He took his very own pictures and we made a little “letter” scrapbook. I also created a few simple tracing and pattern activities. P is for Picnic! Also, how adorable are these warthog piglets?!?
