On Friday, MIHS Mustang Zach competed at the FHSAA 3A Track & Field State Championships and capped off an incredible postseason run in the Boys 400m Hurdles. In just four weeks, Zach went from unranked in the event to finishing 11th in the state — a testament to his work ethic, determination, and commitment to improvement.
Boys Head Coach Cooper Wilson shared his thoughts on Zach’s season:
“All of the coaches have really been impressed with how Zach has responded to adversity this season. He’s taken his preparation to the next level with how he’s taken care of his aches and pains, and with his fueling and hydration habits. Zach was already a good quarter-miler for us, but it was his decision to add the hurdles, and his buy-in was unmatched because of it. He truly prepared like a champion and I couldn’t be more proud of him. The ceiling on Zach is high, and he’s fully capable of running track in college if that’s something he chooses to pursue.”
Congratulations, Zach, on an outstanding season and an unforgettable finish at the state championships!
