Millage allows Brevard Public Schools to provide teacher salaries that remain competitive with surrounding counties and reflects our commitment to investing in fair, competitive teacher pay.

A portion of millage revenue is dedicated to supporting teacher compensation, helping fund the educators who teach and support students across our district.

This is not a new tax. The millage is a renewal of an existing local funding source that helps Brevard Public Schools invest in its workforce and continue supporting classrooms throughout the county.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗮𝘅. The Sales Surtax is a renewal of the existing half-cent sales tax that helps fund safe, maintained, and modern school facilities.

One example is OpenGate weapons detection. Funded by the Surtax, OpenGate is currently installed at every high school in Brevard Public Schools.

Systems like these create safer entrances and allow for faster threat detection while helping schools maintain an efficient arrival process for students.

Surtax ensures Brevard Public Schools can continue investing in security measures that help protect students and staff.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐭. Neither are new. Both are already in place.

The first is the 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐱 — a sales tax renewal that funds safe, maintained, and modern school facilities.

The Surtax is the small portion of sales tax that stays right here in Brevard to keep school buildings safe, in good repair, and up to date. It funds three things: 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬, 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞.
