"Whether outwardly or inwardly, whether in space or time, the farther we penetrate the unknown, the vaster and more marvelous it becomes."
The MIHS CubeSat Team is taking on the challenge of building a satellite to send into space. Merritt Island High School is only the second high school in NASA history to do this, and this is also the first time Kennedy Space Center has partnered with a high school to build and launch a CubeSat. Students involved in the CubeSat project are, with the help of NASA engineers, building a small satellite to send into space. This is a four year project, with a lot of hard work including the designing, building, and testing of the satellite.
Mission: MIHS Cubesat is made up of Merritt Island High School students and NASA engineers teaming together to build a satellite to launch into space.

L-2 days now to Launch 🚀 ! Hey PolySat are you pumped?
Good morning from Kennedy Space Center! We are L-3 days away from the launch of Spacex’s Falcon Heavy rocket with NASA Technology on board. Check out our schedule of events for the Space Test Program-2 mission: https://go.nasa.gov/2IuaFAF
It’s official, StangSat and LEO (PolySat) are integrated! NASA's Launch Services Program
After 8 years and the fantastic student efforts of over 80 students from Merritt Island High School, final Integration day has arrived for StangSat and PolySat ‘s LEO CubeSat.
Thank you to NASA's Launch Services Program for this awesome learning opportunity and chance to launch on the SpaceX STP-2 mission!
Great to watch the SpaceX Falcon Heavy fly successfully tonight and land all three first stage boosters.
During the telecast it was announced the side boosters will be reused for our mission on STP-2 (the next Falcon Heavy launch) 🚀!
First attempt at Remote Integrated Testing between StangSat and Cal Poly's LEO CubeSat. Working surprisingly well considering we are in Florida and they are in California.

Third day of integrated testing.
StangSat is preparing for integrated testing with Cal Poly next week. Right now we are working out minor code issues. More updates will posted next week!
Congratulations to the Grishams' family for winning our competition at the Tech Talk in the Melrose Center in Orlando!
We are in the process of integrated testing with our sister satellite. This is the second day now. First test is done. Almost done with the second.
[02/21/15] The previous post was in reference to tomorrow's presentation.
[02/20/15] StangSat will be presenting at the Melrose Center (Downtown Orlando library) 1:30PM. Everyone is invited and it is free.

Working on disassembling the CubeSat to assemble with new battery.
StangSat is making great progress on the clean room! Should be ready for integrated testing soon!
StangSat was featured in Sunday's (June 1) Florida Today newspaper. Here is the link:

[04/24/14] The students of the Stangsat team did a wonderful job presenting at the CubeSat Developers' Workshop!
[04/24/14] Only 1.5 hours until our team presents at the workshop!
Today the Stangsat team spent the day at CalPoly attending different presentations. Compared to our cubesat, there were many similar and new things that we got out of the presentations. Afterwards we attended the banquet where we got to talk with people from other countries to talk about their projects.
Good luck to our two students presenting tomorrow!
[04/23/14] The Stangsat team had a great first day at CalPoly. We were able to meet with the students from the CP9 team to discuss test plans and how the team will move forward together and a flow chart was also created for future testing. We also learned that communicating and working with the CP9 team is much easier and more efficient in person.
[04/22/14] The Stangsat team has just arrived at San Luis Obispo!
[04/22/14] StangSat is getting ready to board the flight to San Luis Obispo!
[04/22/14] Less than 9 hours until some of our students from the Stangsat team leave for California to attend and present at the Cubesat Developer's Workshop!
[04/15/14] Congratulations to the StangSat students, their teacher and NASA mentors for their amazing work today successfully passing Critical Design Review at NASA!
StangSat was featured in the National Science Teachers Association article! Check out page 20!
[03/25/14] StangSat is having a fundraiser tonight at Big League Eatery in Rockledge, FL for their trip to the CubeSat workshop at CalPoly in April. Please go and support them and enjoy some great food!
[12/21/13] Unfortunately, StangSat/CP9 joint mission is being de-manifested from the GRACE/ULTRASAT mission as a backup. LSP is currently searching for another possible launch vehicle. We are continuing to work towards our delivery date of June.
[11/16/13] We have now been placed as a backup on a Atlas V rocket with ULTRASAT or GRACE to launch in late 2014. Since the notification last week we have been working on documentation required by the mission.
[08/21/13] We were very please to have a great turn out of about 16 students at today's new member meeting! Most of them seem very interested and ready to jump on in and begin helping! We are very excited for this year!
[08/06/13] StangSat is officially functioning! The team did a great job trouble shooting yesterday and determined that the problem was within the motherboard. On to Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) testing!
[08/05/13] After much troubleshooting we identified that our replacement motherboard was faulty. We now have a working representative model of our CubeSat ready for Friday's EMI test.
[08/05/13] As of this morning StangSat is looking promising. We think we will be able to gain a lot of ground today towards being ready for Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) testing!
We conducted accelerometer calibration today at the Vibration Lab. We even had our team members take the lead and run the test!
These pictures capture Integrated testing from May though our Garvey launch in June!
[07/26/13] StangSat is getting closer to being prepared for Electro Magnetic Interference testing! It's really cool to learn about a different type of engineering, see their facilities (anechoic chambers!) and meet with experts!
