You know it’s going to be a good day when..

.we unroll our in the classroom 📍🗺️✨

My 5th graders used the Giant Mars Map from the Aldrin Family Foundation to apply their knowledge of the coordinate system; locating points, identifying regions and lander sites, and using the map key to label and describe what they found.

Applied Math + Mars = engaged explorers 🚀✨

First time visiting Space Center Houston and attending the Space Exploration Educators Conference ( ) 🚀✨

Unforgettable doesn’t even begin to describe it..

From witnessing an astronaut being lowered into the Neutral Buoyancy Lab poolside, to sitting in the same seat at historic Apollo Mission Control also sat in by the Queen, to doing my own underwater dive experience, to hearing from inspirations speakers, celebrating the amazing and viewing her documentary, to connecting with some of the most passionate educators and visionaries I have ever met, from around the entire world.

Presenting on the importance of introducing STEM and space exploration earlier in education isn’t just about careers or cool spacey things. It’s about expanding belief. Expanding possibility. Expanding humanity’s future. Together.

I left feeling inspired, empowered, and more certain than ever of my purpose. 🌎✨

Prepare for launch..

🚀

The build up to this mission has been growing more and more! This super heavy-lift expendable launch vehicle has been under development by NASA since 2011, so what’s another few days? 😆

I know the extra time allowed everyone to better prepare. Our school’s received Spike Essential kits yesterday!! 🙌 Cannot wait to join the Space Team for the Build to Launch STEAM Exploration Series!! ✨

All of our Artemis resources, activities, and info is linked on a webmix through my profile for anyone to use as well!

I’ve been working on something new this year, and it’s all finally coming together..

I put our school’s brand new STEM Lab together and Open House ready this week!! It was a labor of love 💕

The kids (and parents) were SO EXCITED to see everything around the room, explore, and to start creating!!💡

This room is ready for future innovators ✨

We have a LOT of awesome things in the ..especially the 🌱

The lab is an interior room, so it does not have any windows or natural sunlight. I love discussing that with the students and how innovation was used for overcoming challenges just like this.

Plus..”the plants just make me feel happier” said a third grader.

Me too buddy, me too 😊

I am SO excited to be talking at the Tech & Learning District Leadership Roundtable THIS Wednesday 2pm ET 😁

I will be talking with Dr. Kecia Ray and other experts about ways district leaders can integrate STEAM into schools more easily to engage and inspire our future innovators and problem solvers.

✨Register to receive a certificate of completion for one hour of professional development AND coffee ☕️😊

Traditional education was designed for the Industrial Age. But we’re not only living in the Information Age now, we’re already moving to the Imagination Age.

The Imagination Age is driven by technological trends, which increase the growing demand for user-generated content, which involves imagination and creativity.

Most traditional schools have struggled to keep up with the effects of exponential growth in our world. Instead of putting an emphasis on grades or content knowledge, we need to start putting an emphasis on “any” century skills. Imagination must be repurposed and reemphasized, especially in the classroom.

Knowledge feeds the imagination which ignites us to seek new knowledge. This is the cycle of discovery and learning that we strive for in education. An imaginative student, for example, would be free to take risks and be a leader, and to state opinions rather than just correct answers. In the same way, an imaginative teacher can also take risks, be a leader, and be adaptable to the changing needs of their students.

The world we have designed and built around us is an extension of our imaginations. The jobs that will be available are ones that you do need a different kind of education for -- and that's what we need to pay attention to. Educators will have to step out of what the traditional methods emphasize to embrace the idea that the world is changing, and our imaginations will be our best guide.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” -Albert Einstein ✨

Had the BEST field trip with two 5th grade classes to the NASA KSC Exploration Station at Kennedy Space Center, operated by NASA and the Astronauts Memorial Foundation (AMF) 👩‍🚀✨

Students learned about current NASA missions and associated STEM concepts. They worked to design and build scanning devices that could detect and measure the magnetic field of an asteroid, like the Psyche magnetometer 🛰️✨

Participation in NASA KSC’s Exploration Station programs is free of cost for all children and a limited number of adults (chaperones, teachers, etc.). The tickets you are provided also grant full visitor access to the primary grounds of the Visitor Complex.

Any teachers nationwide can obtain a free educator pass from the KSC Visitor Complex Guest Services department ✨
