Help Our Students Shine – Become a Reading Tutor!

The timeline is winding down - applications should be submitted ASAP for a fall start. Please share with any interested parties!

Reading Tutors serve during school hours and spend their days working with small groups of 5K-3 students to boost their skills and confidence. With the support of an on-site coach, tutors use activities proven to help students become stronger readers.

No experience? No problem. Our tutors come from all walks of life. Whether you're a recent grad, career changer, stay-at-home parent, or retiree, you can make a great tutor!

One full-time position for the 2026-27 school year is available at MCS beginning in August. Tutors receive a paycheck every two weeks plus an education award to pay for qualifying college tuition or student loans. Tutors aged 55 or older may gift the education award to their child, grandchild, stepchild, step-grandchild, or foster child.

Outdoor work is underway! The swings and trees damaged in the big storm are being removed to make way for new! The garden is getting growing as the beds are weeded and mulched to start the summer. Stay tuned!

What a whirlwind end to the school year at Merrimac Community School! 🌪️✨

We wrapped up the year by celebrating our amazing students as they received their Medals of Excellence in honor of our school award. We also said a bittersweet goodbye to our wonderful 5th graders (with a few tears!) and wished Mrs. Haupt and Mrs. Thompson the absolute best as they move on to their next chapters. 💙

The kids had a blast helping break down the classrooms, squeezing in just a little more recess on the last day, and we topped it all off with a fantastic time celebrating the beginning of summer together at Merrimac Night at the Mallards game! 🦆⚾☀️

Thank you for sharing your wonderful families with us—we are truly so blessed. Have a safe, happy, and wonderful summer, MCS families! 🪵🦅

🍦 BIG SCOOPS OF GRATITUDE! 🍦

A massive, heartfelt THANK YOU to Mr. Adam at Merrimac Ferry Concessions!

Every year, Mr. Adam generously donates ice cream or a slushie to the entire school to help us celebrate the end of the year at MCS, and this year was no exception. The kids (and staff!) were absolutely thrilled, and it was the perfect, sweetest way to kick off summer vacation. ☀️🎉

Community partners like Mr. Adam make MCS such a special place to be. Next time you're near the ferry, make sure to stop by Merrimac Ferry Concessions, grab a treat, and tell him how much we appreciate his endless support of our students!

⛳️🦆 Smiles All Around at Wisconsin Dells! 🦆⛳️

Our MCS students wrapped up an incredible school year with their highly anticipated annual "Buddy's Trip" to Wisconsin Dells!

Throughout the year, these awesome student pairs have spent time on Fridays working hard together—reading, tackling math problems, and exploring STEM activities. Today was all about celebrating that hard work, teamwork, and friendship!

The buddies had a blast hanging out, playing rounds of mini-golf, and splashing around on the classic Wisconsin Dells Ducks. It was the perfect way to cap off a fantastic year of learning and growing together.

🎉 Culver's Share Night was a HUGE success! 🎉

We want to send a giant THANK YOU to all the families who helped serve and came out to dine last night. Seeing our community fill the restaurant with smiling faces was the perfect reminder that many hands make light work! 💙
