ATTENTION MCSC FAMILIES:

We are excited to announce that the first day of school for all Merrillville Community School Corporation students will be Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Our staff will use Monday, August 17, 2026, as a preparation day to ensure our schools and classrooms are ready to welcome our students.

We know the past several days have presented unexpected challenges, and we sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we prepare for the new school year.

Our Merrillville Community Schools buildings and grounds, maintenance and Iddings custodial teams are true heroes! They have been working endlessly to clean up the trees, branches and debris left from Tuesday’s storm. We are excited and ready to welcome our students back to a safe and beautiful school on Tuesday. All hands on deck!!

Due to significant damage caused by Tuesday’s severe storm, August 11, several MCSC schools and facilities require repairs before they can safely welcome students.

Students will return to school Monday, August 17, 2026.

Our maintenance, operations, and administrative teams are working diligently to ensure our buildings are safe and ready for students. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support as our MCSC family and community recover from the storm.

We look forward to welcoming our students back on August 17, 2026.
