MEET OUR STAFF!

This August, Momma Bear Learning Center celebrated 3 years!

For two of those years, we grew from just 5 children to 12. We continued to invest in our vision and became a Class II licensed home learning center, increasing our capacity to serve up to 19 children.

The vision was always to grow into a center with a strong, qualified team and that vision became a reality!

Today, we have dedicated educators serving our Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K classrooms.

Our team has completed more than 480 hours of CDA training, and over 50% of our staff have earned their Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential!

We are committed to investing in our educators because quality childcare starts with educators who are trained, supported, and passionate about helping children learn and develop.

From 5 children to a growing team and three classrooms we are incredibly grateful for how far we’ve come.

We are grateful.
We are blessed.
And we are still growing!

With everything going on, God is still amazing! We were blessed to have our power restored, while many of our families were still without power.

But we made the best of it and made our first day of school fun for our students AND our parents with Dance or No Drop-Off!

No matter the circumstances, we’ll always find a reason to smile, have fun, and make memories at Momma Bear Learning Center.

Storm Day Learning at Home

Learning doesn’t have to stop just because we can’t be together!

Hello, Momma Bear Families!

During severe weather, power outages, or unexpected center closures, we encourage our children to continue learning, creating, and having fun at home. Below are some fun educational activities your child can enjoy.

🎮 Educational Games

* PBS KIDS Games — Reading, math, science, problem-solving, and more.
* Khan Academy Kids — Letters, numbers, reading, creativity, and early learning.
* LEGO DUPLO World — Building, imagination, problem-solving, and early STEM.
* Pok Pok — Open-ended exploration, creativity, and critical thinking.
* Sago Mini World — Imaginative play, storytelling, and exploration.

Parent Tip: When possible, download games and activities ahead of severe weather so children can still enjoy them if internet service is interrupted.

⛈️ Momma Bear Storm-Day Challenge

No internet? No problem!

* Flashlight Shapes: Shine a flashlight on different objects and explore their shadows.
* Indoor Scavenger Hunt: Find 3 things that are blue, 2 things that are round, and something that begins with your child’s first letter.
* Build It: Use blocks, cups, boxes, or pillows to build the tallest structure you can.
* Weather Scientist: Look safely through the window and talk about the clouds, rain, wind, thunder, and lightning.
* Move Your Body: Hop 10 times, jump 10 times, march around the room, and balance on one foot.
* Story Time: Read a favorite book together and ask your child to tell you what happened in the story.
* Draw the Storm: Have your child create a picture of what the weather looks like outside.

Hello, families!

Due to the continued power outage following today’s severe weather and additional storms expected tomorrow, Momma Bear Learning Center will be CLOSED tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12.

We want to give everyone as much notice as possible so that families can make alternative childcare accommodations.

The safety of our children, families, and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unexpected circumstances.

Week 4 of Summer Camp

Our Pre-K students are exploring Science and STEAM through fun, hands-on activities! STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) helps children develop critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and early math and science skills.

By asking questions, making predictions, building, experimenting, and exploring, children become confident learners while preparing for kindergarten and beyond.”

STEAM:

S – Science

T – Technology

E – Engineering

A – Arts: Encouraging creativity through drawing, painting, music, dance, dramatic play, storytelling, and design. The arts help children express ideas and think creatively while solving problems.

M – Mathematics

Why STEAM is popular in Pre-K

Many early childhood programs use STEAM because young children naturally learn best when creativity is combined with science and math. For example:

* Building a bridge with blocks (Engineering)
* Decorating it with paint or markers (Art)
* Counting how many blocks were used (Math)
* Testing how much weight it can hold (Science)
* Taking pictures or using a simple tablet to document the project (Technology)

Both STEM and STEAM prepare children for kindergarten by developing curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills through hands-on learning.

✂️ Week 3 : OUR Continents & the 5 Oceans🌊

This week, our little explorers learned about the 7 continents and the 5 oceans! They created their very own globes using balloons, then colored, cut, and placed the continents onto them.

This hands-on activity strengthened:

* ✂️ Fine motor skills through cutting
* 🎨 Coloring and color recognition
* 🤲 Hand-eye coordination
* 🌍 Geography and world awareness
* 🧠 Memory and listening skills
* 💡 Problem-solving and creativity

Learning is always more exciting when little hands get to create while they explore the world! 🌎💙
