Library Director Laurie Ollhoff had the honor of attending the reception by special invitation to the Governor’s residence celebrating neighborhood heroes in the work that they do making a difference through kindness, service, and simply showing up for their communities.

In his 2026 State of the State Address, Governor Tony Evers declared 2026 the Year of the Neighbor as a way to recognize Wisconsinites who are making a difference through kindness, service, and simply showing up for their communities. 🏠 🌲

On Monday, August 17, Laurie Ollhoff (T.B. Scott Free Library, Merrill), Rita Ludvigsen (Western Taylor County Public Library, Gilman), WVLS Advocacy Consultant Kris Adams Wendt, and Krista Blomberg (Rib Lake Public Library) attended a special celebration hosted at the Executive Residence in Madison by the Governor and First Lady Kathy Evers.

The event honored Wisconsinites who serve their community neighborhoods and Wisconsin as every day heroes. Librarians play a critical role in strengthening and supporting neighborhoods.

Congrats to Laurie, Rita and Krista! 🌟 🎉
