Welcome to the official Calhoun H.S. On Tour Company page. The program, located in Merrick, New York, is one of Bellmore/Merrick’s oldest co-curricular programs. It has existed at Calhoun for over 30 years. The On Tour Company was founded in 1973 by Mr. James Drake and Dr. Dale Parkinson. Subsequent instructors included Mrs. Dianne Meistrell and Mr. John Fredrickson among several others.

The program, under the direction of Mr. Sal Salerno, has been performing since September 1985, and is now one of the finest school drama programs on Long Island and in NY State. Currently, the company, under faculty direction and the student supervision of the International Thespian Society, produce over 10 performances a year. These include four major production; one Shakespeare, one Musical, one contemporary play (comedy or drama), and one other which may be chosen from a variety of theatre style: e.g. Children’s Theatre, Commedia dell’Arte, Ancient Greek, etc. Also produced are several Evenings of Improv or Comedy Showcases, Senior Directed One-Act Plays, touring scenes, competitions, and dinner theatre interludes.

Congratulations OTC alum Ella Perez on an outstanding performance in The Cher show on tour at the Tilles Center! It was an amazing experience watching you dance, sing and act and being able to forget that I wasn’t watching you but a fully developed character that happened to be a celebrity. It was a great night also seeing and catching up with two other talented OTC alums who came to support their friend. Sending best wishes for continued success in your run.

Congratulations OTC cast and crew on an outstanding opening weekend.The work put in over the last three days has been close to Sigma. You crushed it! Performances were high quality, creative and many were very polished. There is also some SKIBIDI RIZZ. While there is a lot of Rizz that shows, there are still a few small areas for improvement. I’m really vibing about the opportunity we have this week to tighten up these areas and create an experience for our audience that will blow them away.

Congratulations to OTC cast, staff, crew and students of on a successful and fun opening night of our 50’s flavored A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The foundation is set for a great production if the great effort continues. The cast has a lot to be proud of but there is still work and polish to be done. I have directed 8 productions of A Midsummer professionally and 6 at Calhoun. I’m very proud of the work being done and it is fitting as this will be my final Shakespeare production at Calhoun. I’m hoping many of my friends and former students can get a chance to see it and have fun as I have borrowed and repeated bits from several prior productions and we have gender swapped Oberon and Titania like the Bridge production but make no mistake this cast is all original. The show is tonight, Saturday the 26th, Next Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and this coming Thursday at 4pm. Also, next Saturday is our special Shakespeare dinner theatre at 5pm be for the show with great food and special student performances during dinner with the show after. DM me if you are interested in tickets.
