This week, over 30 students took part in a Principled Leadership Workshop designed to strengthen their ability to manage clubs, projects, and their daily lives.

Led by Ms. Stokes, Merion Mercy’s Dean of Student Formation, the group met after school to learn concepts and tangible skills designed to help them lead with confidence and purpose, including:

⭐ Servant leadership styles

⭐ Communication strategies

⭐️ Smart time management

⭐ Organizational frameworks

⭐ Visual design principles to convey their ideas

Freshmen in Ms. Peacock’s Cultures in World History course rolled up their sleeves to create their own Cuneiform tablets.

As part of their study of Mesopotamia, students are learning about ancient civilizations such as the Sumerians, who are credited with creating the earliest known writing system, Cuneiform. After learning this Sumerian “alphabet”, students were tasked with transcribing a law from Hammurabi’s Code onto their clay tablet and reflecting on why written laws are an important function in establishing societal norms.

Students in Ms. Mattera's Honors British Literature class brought Pride and Prejudice to life! Inspired by Mr. Bingley's assertion that all young ladies are "so accomplished," students paired a hobby, skill or interest with their study of Jane Austen's classic novel. They developed creative projects that helped them engage with Austen's text, deepen their understanding of character and class, and showcase their own strengths. Work included magazines, art, a scrapbook, clothing, and even a game of chess. The students also learned traditional dance.
