Apparently, retirement looks good on the toddler crowd.
This week, our kiddos are learning all about families and the very special role grandparents play as we get ready to celebrate Grandparents Day this Sunday.
But in true Corky fashion, our Magnolia toddler teachers decided a regular lesson just would not do.
They invited families to send their littlest learners to school dressed as their much older selves and the results have absolutely made our week. Tiny grandmas, little grandpas, sensible shoes, cardigans, glasses and all.
What we love most about this idea is that it came completely from our teachers.
At Corky, the O stands for "Outside-of-the-Box Thinking" and we encourage our teachers to always dream up "out-side-of-the-box opportunities" to create learning experiences that are playful, unexpected, memorable and meaningful. No leadership meeting was needed. No one handed them this idea. Our teachers saw an opportunity to make learning more fun and ran with it.
And THAT is exactly the kind of magic we want happening inside our classrooms.
Today they may look ready for retirement, but they are busy learning about family, connection, generations, and the people who love them most.
Happy Grandparents Day from our very old, very wise, and suspiciously tiny Corky Magnolia toddler crew.
