CHS Homecoming Week has been a blast for us all! See what Mrs. Moore had to say about her class today!

“We were excited to welcome Trooper Cole McDonald with the Mississippi Highway Patrol’s Troop H to our classroom. He spoke with our students about road safety and the importance of wearing seat belts, and he even gifted us with Troop H badges!

A special thank-you to our school’s SRO, Deputy Wood, for helping coordinate this visit! We appreciate both Trooper McDonald and Deputy Wood for their dedication to keeping us safe! “🚔💙

A message from Clarkdale High School

Today, school administration was made aware of a report that a student brought a gun to campus and threatened another student. We began investigating immediately, following all LCSD policies and procedures, and with our School Resource Officer available.

Our investigation found that no fi***rm was brought to campus. The item involved was a toy prop that a student carried as part of a costume for today’s homecoming week “American Icon” dress-up day. The report stemmed from a personal disagreement between students, and we found no credible evidence that a threat was made at school today.

We take every report of this kind seriously, and student safety is our highest priority. We will be reviewing guidelines for props and costumes for future spirit days. Because this involves students, we are unable to share further details. If you have a concern, please contact the school directly at 601-693-4463.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep Clarkdale safe.

Ms. Gibson’s 7th grade ELA students are bringing their stories to life as they work on personal narratives! ✏️📖

Through writing stations, students are identifying the parts of an introduction, using plot diagrams to check their own stories for key elements, and refining their grammar and mechanics. They’re also practicing “show, don’t tell” by using sensory details to help readers experience the feelings in their stories!
