Hey I'm Kyrstin, director of Meridian Tavaci. I’m a singer and performer dedicated to teaching and inviting creativity in children. I am a level 1 nationally certified Kodaly instructor with 17 years of piano and vocal performance training from local music professors including Dr. Nancy Galvin, Leslie Maudlin, Dr. Laura Rushing-Raynes, and Deanna Pond. I have had lead roles in musicals like the Sound of Music and Bye Bye Birdie and performed for several years in a musical theater troupe. But now, I’ve turned my love of musical theater to Tavaci, where I have been teaching and directing singing for young children for the last 6 years. I was that awkward and shy kid who never made the school talent shows but always tried. Oh... but how I wanted to be a singer! When I was 8, my mom believing in my dream, brought me to a local children's chorus directed by the late, Dr. Linda Berg. I look back and credit my mother and my first teacher, Dr. Berg for inspiring me to believe in myself. It is largely from my early experience there, that I draw my inspiration as I aim to teach and inspire a new generation of children. Music is one of the great joys in my life, but I gained much more from music than lead roles and awards. I learned to be brave, to try new things, to be okay with failure, and to enjoy sharing the universal language of music. That is what Tavaci is all about- it's about helping each child grow in confidence and to engage in a life long relationship with music!
