“Discovering a love of learning
and the fun of friendship” We study a variety of subjects with time tested methods.
Bright Beginnings is dedicated to providing a friendly, safe and fun learning environment where children grow in confidence, independence, and self esteem while developing friendships and gaining a respect for themselves and the world around them. Our aim is to help children broaden their horizons, develop a love of learning and get ready for Kindergarten. In the process children expand their sens

A day (or more?) late wish to all my former BB students: have a great day and a fantastic school year of fun and learning!

BB graduation 2022 happened this AM. Such lovely cards, heartfelt words from this years families and a record amount of hugs from the children made for a lovely and emotional final, final day at Bright Beginnings! We missed one student who wasn't feeling well, but wrapped up the year with some songs.

Happy Earth Day (April 22)! This week and last we have talked about our earth and how we can help take care of it, its resources and help keep it beautiful! We have lots of books in our library, but "This Is Our Earth" by Laura Lee Benson is a favorite with beautiful wording and illustrations. ❤
Happy New Year!

Fall photos under the fire maple.

Happy Halloween! This year we saw Elsa, Lilo (and Stitch), a pink kitty cat, witch, Spiderman, astronaut, egyptian princess, shark, and Olaf!

BB Halloween Party today! We made frosting yesterday, projects are prepped and bats are hung. I am looking forward to seeing my preschoolers in costume very soon. Stay tuned for photo updates. Happy Halloween!! 🎃🍁

Fall art project! Catalpa leaf prints on construction paper.

Happy Fall, y'all! Today we painted Catalpa leaves and tasted 4 types of apples (Honeycrisp, Envy, Gala, Granny Smith) to celebrate the first day of fall.

Week one review: apple art, magic paint, sweet friends and outdoor fun. 😍

New year, new classroom. Happy first day of the 2021 school year BB students!! We start tomorrow, September 8th.

Happy first day of Kindergarten to my 2021 graduates! --Kashton, Kensley, Caleb and Danielle-- And happy first day (or second+) of school to my many, many graduates over the years, from 1st graders to college! May you always continue discovering a love of learning and the fun of friendship.
A short Ted talk shared by a BB parent that is worth a listen. 😍

Final day of BB summer camp 2021 went with a big splash. See y'all in the fall. Happy trails until we meet again and enjoy summer break.

Today the children were very focused on individual lessons and activities. We did a water xylophone. Tomorrow we will splash and play in the water to wrap up our BB summer camps.

H2-Oh! Who Loves Water? Water week started today. We had a water exploration table, talked about the water cycle and did experiments.

Day 3 and 4 of Science Fun. Next week is H2Oh! Who loves water? Water play, cycle, experiments and its importance for all of us.

Day 2 of Science Fun included making "mixtures" like flubber (borax and Elmer's glue) and homemade bubbles (dish soap, glycerine, water). Our first attempt at flabbergasted was a "fail" or you could say we flubbed. Haha! I had a really old and generic tube of white glue I thought would work (green), and it did not. Take two (blue) was with real Elmer's and it worked very well. We talked about how in science mistakes or even "fails" are also something we learn a lot from. We also got some photos and video of our balloon rocket which we tried again today because it ia so fun.

Today was our introduction to science fun with our third week of BB summer camp. We discussed the meaning/definition of science, learned some basic science terms and big words like hypothesis, observation, prediction and comparison. We did 4 basic experiments starting with predictions about whether various objects would float or sink, then filling a balloon over a bottle, building a hover craft and not pictured was a balloon rocket. The children were very patient with each other as we took turns with each activity.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

Art from the Start was a lot of fun this week! Wednesday's project was inspired by Monet's "Bridge over Water Lilies" or is it "Water lilies and Japanese Bridge"? I found it under a few names and he painted the scene and variations of it a lot. Today we studied Pointillism and Georges Seurat. We also worked on a Father's Day gift which I will have to wait to post, just in case. Today we visited my neighbor Gayle who has a beautiful garden and knows a lot about flowers. She shared her knowledge and gave us a tour. It bridged last weeks study of dirt, worms, gardens, flowers with this week's topic of art and artists. We noticed that Gayle has many of the same flowers described in Monet's garden. What a great community to live in!

Todays art was inspired by Concentric Circles by Kandinsky and a little Matisse influence as he did a lot of cut and paste art.

BB summer camp "Art from the Start" started today. We learned about Georgia O' Keefe and did a large scale water color flower inspired by her work. Some collage and weaving art. We also checked our experiments from last week and had some fun outdoors.

Week one of BB camp already wraps up tomorrow. Here are highlights from Let's Dig in the Dirt. Day one, filled the worm farm and talked compost. Day two, planted seeds, read a The Seed Song, learned poem "This is my Garden" and started a seed experiment. Also found more worms. Day three, built a terrarium, including gathering dirt and moss. Also started a flower experiment. Whew! Busy days here at Bright Beginnings!! 😊⚘🧤🪣🔍🐜🪱🐝🪲🦋

That's a wrap! Happy trails to my 2021 rising Kindergarten students and see you in the fall to my 4 returning preschoolers. I will see many of them in June at summer camp, too. It has been a great year.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!

Happy Earth Day 2021

Another busy morning with a spring craft, birthday celebration, visit from three chicks (4 weeks old, twice the size as Tuesday's) and outdoor fun.

We had 5 chirpy, friendly, soft, Rhode Island Red chick's visit the classroom today. Thank you to Kashton and his family. They were so sweet and a first for the BB classroom. These are 10 days old +/-.

Happy Spring and Happy Easter weekend! We made these bunny bags and collected some eggs today. Yesterday, we colored hardboiled eggs and tasted one at snack time. Spring time fun.
