Welcome, Ava Camilo, to Treasure Valley Arts! If you are interested in cello lessons, here is her website with more information: https://avacamilocellist.com/

Ava Camilo is a Boise-based freelance cellist and private cello instructor. She has collaborated with a wide range of ensembles across the Northwest, including Candlelight Quartets in Boise, the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Disney PRIDE in Concert. Ava frequently performs as a substitute cellist with the Boise Philharmonic.

Ava holds a Master of Music degree in Cello Performance and a certificate in Suzuki Method pedagogy from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. She is fully Suzuki certified from Pre-Twinkle through Book 10. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from Boise State University, where she won the Concerto-Aria Competition during her freshman year and performed Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the university orchestra. Her musical development has been shaped by her teachers Nancy B. Wilson, Brian Hodges, Matthew Zalkind, and Heather Hadley. Additional training includes a fellowship position at the Marrowstone Music Festival and two intensive summer programs at the International Cello Institute.

Ava is passionate about music accessibility and enjoys bringing the cello into a wide variety of musical styles and performance settings. She regularly performs on both acoustic and electric cello, expanding the instrument’s reach beyond traditional concert spaces. Some of her favorite performance venues include the Egyptian Theatre in Boise, the Denver Art Museum, and the breathtaking mountaintop of Colorado’s Governor Basin. Outside of music, Ava enjoys yoga, reading, and working on crochet projects.
