Of course, we still go to the playground, but as an outdoor parent, I so much more prefer wild spaces over the highly protected spaces of a playground. There is so much to explore and imagine in a wild space. There is so much diversity and interest and so many more questions that can come from a day at the stream. Give me wild spaces > the playground any day.

I'd say stepping outside the front door cost almost nothing, but with the amount of gear I buy for my kids to make that happen, it can sometimes be a lot 😅 but it's always worth it. These other resources help us to take the learning outside though.

I used to teach in forest school but since I've started homeschooling, I've found that if I don't prioritize the outdoors, it's very easy to get stuck inside our home, so good books and good nature based curriculum that's affordable has helped us immensely to bring our learning out. Yep it's that time, especially when you live in Alaska and it takes 6 weeks for supplies to get to you and your allotment just reset for the year 💃 😅
