The most common dieting mistake is NOT EATING ENOUGH.
Calorie restricting sends signals to the human body that say:
"Hey, we aren't receiving as many calories as usual, lets release muscle so that we can burn fewer calories".
Which is why we see weight lost on the scale. But not a loss in fat mass.
Restricting calories also elevates Cortisol. Meaning your hunger cravings will be stronger. And if you eat during these cravings, the calories will likely store as fat.
Commonly, calorie restricting is combined with long steady-state cardio training. And studies have shown this reduces bone density, reduces testosterone, AND elevates Cortisol.
So, you'll lose weight, but from a loss of Bone Density and Muscle Mass. While anything you eat during these routines will likely store as fat.
This is a simple fix if you can pick up 3 healthy habits:
1. 8 Hours of Sleep every night - lowered Cortisol, better mood, which will result in better dietary decisions.
2. Eat 1g of Protein(from Whole Foods) per Lb of Body Weight/Goal Weight. Protein is the most satiating macro nutrient. You'll feel less hungry by eating high protein meals. And metabolizing Protein requires the most energy to digest of any other nutrient. Meaning, you'll burn more calories simply by eating more protein.
3. 1 Gallon of water per day (doesn't have to be exact but do your best).
Note* The key to making these 3 daily routines work is TIME. The longer you can practice these routines, the more results you'll see.
The human body will release unwanted fat once you give the body what it needs. Commanding the body to lose fat by restricting calories only causes fat retention.
